I do not come here often but when I do, I choose the Wednesday afternoon or evening. This is when the place converts into a joyful fresh food market. Many stands have a little terrace where you can eat and drink among friends. The atmosphere is quite international and posh as this is the uptown part of Brussels. Around the... More

Every Wednesday afternoon/evening there is a small market with veritables, fruits, Italian/French gourmet food, pastries, and small delicious snack-places. There are bigger markets like the one at the South-Station, or more famous at Flagey, or more fancy at Sablon, but this is my favorite one, it combines a bit everything and I like the area a lot! -Go there!!

On a Wednesday, the Marché Chatelain is my favorite place to be! From 2-6/7 you can buy all the fruits and veggies, and some things like bread and cheese- to your hearts desire! The prices range and I have seen way too expensive veggies, but also have gotten some great deals! Around 6 or 7- tons of people come out... More

I just had an hour free time and decided to visit the weekly market. It was small and cosy, but offered a good choice of market stalls where you could buy Mediterranean delicacies (olives, fresh pastas, sausages, bread etc.) and fruit and vegetables. You could also buy a meal and enjoy your dish at one of those tables. The delicacies... More

The views by others are true; it is a very nice place/market to pass time on a Wednesday, however the setting is occasionally spoilt as it was yesterday by the police who are there to keep pickpockets and the like under control. Instead of doing their job, they often pick on the traders by insisting that they not cross lines... More

Going to a city midweek often rules out markets-except for fruit and veg ones. The wednesdat market in Place de Chatelain is predominantly food and drink but its a really good experience. Its that elusive experience we are usually all after when away on holiday- a local experience. Its just lots and lots of people browsing, tadting, shopping and eating-... More

Cosy place to have lunch or afternoon tea or just to chat with friends. I did lost first time when I was driving there, but overall it's pretty easy to get to. For me it is a special place because the wedding boutique where I bought my dress is situated there. So I will always remember it.

Typical Brussels architecture, masses of restaurants, great street market on Wednesdays. The square itself is not square but nicely irregular with lots of trees. Oh, and a nearby hotel is one of the few in Brussels with good facilities for wheelchairs.
