L'llot Sacre forms part of the historic area of the city but is relatively small, ecompassing a few different attractions such as the Choco Story and of course the Mannekin Pis and also the Rue de la Bouchers where many of the city's finest restaurants are to be found, although some would say they are tourist traps. I guess that depends on your perspective and what you like to eat. I ate at a number of them during my week in the city and had no complaints. At the district forms part of the historic quarter it is impossible not to explore the area and there is certainly plenty to see and explore.

Be prepared for very large tourist crowds. This place was swarming on the Saturday that we were here. But it is full of great architecture, the historic center of the city. Sites are here and plenty of places to shop and eat. You should not miss it.

It’s a traditional shopping street with foot lockers, H&M’s, Zara’s and so on. While girls shopping we drink brown drinks and discuss problems in globe.

Quarter De L'Ilot Sacre is without a doubt one of the main tourist areas of Brussels and a walk through some of the restaurant lined streets will confirm this.
Walking through the streets you will be accosted by many restaurant hawkers trying to lure you into their restaurant with seemingly great meal deals but don't be fooled as most of the restaurant's offer the same cuisine at inflated prices but there are some good restaurants here and a bit of a study on Tripadvisor or Yelp and you will easily find some where good to eat.
I love to visit here to go to the amazing Delirium Village which is a group of great beer taverns offering the biggest range of beer's in the world and if there's a good football or rugby match on a few pints of Guinness in The Six National Pub.
The architecture around here is also superb and if your a keen photographer don't forget to take your camera as you will take some fantastic photos of the area.
A great area to visit and one I highly recommend you seek out.

We walked through this street quite a few times, as it was a good cut through to our hotel and although we only used this street for walking through (we didn't eat or drink down here) I still wouldn't recommend it.
Admittedly, we thought the street looked quite cute and inviting when we first came across it and it seemed to have character, but you quickly realise it doesn't really - all the restaurants look the same and you're pestered to eat inside "come inside and sit by our cosy fire" (when you walk past the restaurant windows, you realise they ALL have the same fires) so they're al very samey, offering pretty much the same food and all pestering you to eat inside.
However, a good cut through route and good to walk down if you're exploring / having a stroll, but that's it.

Don't eat there ... all fake cuisine and bad quality . The well-known tourist trap and shame of Brussels. In its crowded narrow streets, you'll get constantly pestered by the restaurant's waiters, food is bad except in a couple of well-know places (Aux Armes de Bruxelles, Léon, ... or dine on the Grand' Place itself ... or at Ste Caterine, e.g.). Don't miss the Galeries Royales and the Grand' Place however, but don't spend your time in the Ilot Sacré's little streets !

This is a good place to stroll leisurely and simply enjoy the walk. It is dangerously studded with all sorts of tourist traps, from delicious chocolate stores to nice restaurants. However, it is a saver when it rains, and who doesn't like Belgian chocolate anyway...

I was pleasantly surprised to find such a gem in a touristy area so close to Grand Place.
The restaurant itself is on a lovely narrow alley street.

If it wasn't for the wonderful Delirium Village complex I don't think I would set foot in the main area of Quartier L'IIol Sacre.
Ok ,it's an ancient district of Brussels ,some winding tight streets but it's just too touristic ,streets such as Rue Des Bouchers are why I hate this area ,a street lined with tourist trap restaurants who will tempt you into their establishment and will rip you off,not all the restaurants but most of them,all in all it's an area of Brussels to swerve.

Quartier De L'Ilot Sacre is a district I am not a big fan of,in fact it's a district that I find frustrating,it should be fantastic with its tight streets that should have pubs,bars and restaurants showcasing the very best of Belgium but in reality what you have is a bit of a tourist trap district, walk down a street such as Rue De Bouchers and this sums up the area,a street thats packed with " authentic " Belgium restaurants ,these are all tourist traps with the sole intention of ripping off the unwary passing tourist,from setting foot into this street and district your pestered to visit the restaurant by the many hawkers down this street and area,a totally dreadful experience, it's not all bad ,there are two saving graces, the architecture is outstanding and you have Delirium Village which is a huge beer complex offering the biggest range of beers in the world.
If your thinking of visiting the Quartier De L'Illot Sacre take in the architecture and ignore the restaurants as you will be inadvertently ripped off.
An area and district not for me but if your planning a holiday to Brussels well worth visiting if you enjoy quality beers in Belgiums most famous beer palace namely Delirium.
