    Essential must-see place in Brussels
This is essential on your visit to Brussels. What an amazing unique place. Full of puppets hanging from the ceiling and over the walls. The place is not too big so either book or be prepared to queue. We only had drinks, my only criticism was that there was only one member of staff on and god bless him he worked bloody hard but it meant that service was quite slow.

    Amazing vibe, location, and service!
We had a great experience at this spot! The service was outstanding. The lovely seating area outside has views of MannekenPis. There is a really eccentric and cool interior of the bar. The snacks were nice too. The beer was sublime and the vibe was truly special!

Great Place to Enjoy a Brussels Beer Experience
This is an incredibly busy bar just up from the Mannekin Pis. I loved it! We were greeted by a really friendly bar tender who found us a table and then gave us just the right amount of time to choose our drinks. As you maybe aware, most Brussels bars have a huge range of both bottled and draught beers and yet our drinks were with us in no time at all (how do they do that?) It was also good value considering the location. We were lucky to get a seat but others arriving didn't seem to be waiting long. In my opinion, this is well worth a visit

"Must place" for beer in Brussels
Unique beer garden just at Manneken Pis. A lot of sorts of beer, even such unique once like Cantillon Gueze. And let the waiter pour the beer into the glass.... remarkable experience :). "Must place" for beer in Brussels

    Cool Place
This is a really “cool” bar. The ambiance, decor, and layout is amazing. Could sit in there for hours eating and drinking. It was completely full on a Sunday night. Credit to the server…..he was the only one servicing the whole bar and was working hard. Great beer selection.

We were seated by a waiter upstairs, he took our order and we noticed it was very cold, we were near an open window. A couple nearby asked if they could close it and he said no, they have to keep the oxygen levels up. I kid you not.
I'm sure he was roasting mind you as he was run off his feet. There was a constant stream of people arriving, and a matching stream leaving, I imagine this was because the waiter had time to seat each new customer, get their drink, then seat the next new customer and so on. Hence you could only get one drink! We wanted a second round but gave up waiting.
Shame, fairly pretty place but dreadfully understaffed.

08/18/23. Poech is one of my "heart" places. Whenever I'm in Brussels I don't miss having a beer here. And I've always felt good about it. Except this time! My family and I sit down. A waiter arrives and shows a "slight" intolerance towards us from the first minutes. But that's it. Could it be the heat, the many people? Hmm?! At two different times, a short distance from each other, we order beers. From the menu, among others, we take three Taras Boulba on tap, from the De La Senne brewery, an artisanal producer from Brussels. Small note: on the menu it is possible to choose between two different sizes but the waiter doesn't ask us and brings us the 33 cl glass. It's okay! After consuming I ask for the bill and then I realize that on the receipt the three Taras are shown as "Meyboom" at 30 cents more each, compared to those ordered. I have my daughter (who, unlike me, speaks fluent English and French) ask for explanations. It's not for the extra 90 cents, obviously, but I think it's worth asking for explanations. Maybe it's a mistake. To her request the waiter replies: “is the same beer”!!! At that point I intervened, getting quite angry and reiterating firmly that, no, it's not the same beer. They are different, absolutely different. Only after repeating it several times, even out loud alas, did the waiter reveal to us that the Taras Boulba was finished! Upon my further repeated protests as to why he hadn't warned me (it was enough to say it, I would have ordered something else) and why he was making fun of us, he stammered that that wasn't his intention. In those minutes of chaos, another waiter (glasses and hat) approached the entrance door and finally, having understood my legitimate protests, apologized to us. In the meantime I had also asked to speak to the director, who was however absent at the time. I obviously paid and walked away very angry.
The episode does not change the opinion I have of Poech. It remains one of my favorite places in Brussels but, in this case the service (the waiter) and the management made a terrible, terrible impression!
P.s. What would the brewers of the De La Senne brewery think if they knew that at Poech their Taras Boulba and Meyboom were defined as "the same beer?" I'd like to know...maybe I'll ask him.

We went two nights for a cane and dinner, because they have sausage and cheese boards at a good price, and with beer they put a snack, which is to be appreciated.
Located next to the Manneken Pis, the exterior of the building and its terrace are phenomenal, but I wanted to get inside despite the heat, because I knew the decor was amazing.
And I wasn't wrong.
Of the two days, I stay with Friday, we were attended by a super friendly boy, who advised us what to take. On Sunday, the boy upstairs inexperienced, the one downstairs who will own or manage, stressed and edged, but I will not take it into account.
I liked the place too much, too much of our stuff, to let anyone screw up.
The pub inside has two floors, and is full of puppets of all kinds, music instruments hanging from the ceiling, plaques on the walls... the lighting creates an extraordinary atmosphere. There are many tourists, but more Brusselsians, which is a good sign.
I would return without hesitation.

Understaffed place with mediocre food.
I called the place earlier on the day to make a reservation for dinner and I was told it wasn’t necessary. We arrived closer to 7 pm only to be told the outdoor area had been shut due to staff shortage and had to wait for a table inside.

Quirky interior with an extensive beer selection but that was it.

The restaurant/pub/bar "Poechenellekelder" (theatre puppet cellar) is only a few meters from the world-famous Mannekin Pis - where always whole host of international tourists roam with their cameras. - In the cozy & really beautifully & stylishly decorated "puppet cellar" nevertheless plays absolutely authentic Brussels life and also very fine Brussels "joke & ridicule" ... for which the (comic) Brusselsers are well known. You feel immensely comfortable here ... and are served wonderful (...especially Belgian) beers on tap or from the bottle; in addition (...against the hunger) - "a la carte" - various portions (especially. Sausage & Cheese), -Toast & hot dishes ... and all this & all at extremely moderate prices. - This is really not a tourist (nepp) pub from the "Fressgasse" - but authentic Brussels ... for Brusselsers & also for tourists. - There are also some outdoor tables - but it is much nicer indoors. - The Poechenellekelder "feels" like a real insider tip - but of course has long been known as a wonderful address on everyone ... and all tables are of course highly sought after ... and you have to be a little lucky... --- IN SHORT : "Da jonn me och hin ... as real colognes !"

We had a wonderful time! The place is very cosy and the personnel is cheerful and kind. We tried the charcuterie boards - both cheese and meat - and some local beers and we were pleasantly satisfied by both the food and the beers. It is a youthful and lively place and although the food selection is limited (it is a beer bar after all) we loved everything about it! The price is reasonable considering its central position - right in front of the Manneken Pis, just behind the Grote Markt. Overall great!

Shortly after we arrived in Brussels and freshened up at our hotel, we went walking through the Grand Place and by the Manneken Pis when we spotted this quaint pub with colorful bicycles on the building and an outdoor patio. We ordered our first Belgian beers...took a couple of tries to find brands that suited our taste and went with our Pate du Campagne and Jambon & Fromage plates. Service was pretty good, despite being short-staffed. We heard that this establishment has an historical collection of local Brusselsiana and breweriana and more. We found it quite interesting to see the historical memorabilia.

The bar, despite being beautiful and having a rustic and picturesque appearance, is from 1991, unlike countless pubs in Brussels and other European cities, which are much older.
They charge a fee to sit at the table and one of the waiters was extremely rude, rude and rude. When we entered the bar and asked for a table for two people, we didn't understand what he said, we asked again and he said in an impatient and rude way that we were supposed to wait at the entrance to the bar.
Obviously we didn't stay there. Terrible!

We visited this pub after an afternoon of walking. Despite beu g right across from mannekin pis, it was quiet and relaxing. Big Trees gave us shade. The slanted patio of cobbles added ti character. My cycling enthusiast loved that the Tour de France passed by here in 2019. Had a delicious and generous charcuterie and strong beet! Yum!!!
