This is an incredible private museum displaying an amazing collection of decorative objects from 1700 till 1850. The main attraction are the gold gilted clocks, probably the largest collection of its kind in Europe. Rare, delicate porcelain services made in Belgium are also on display. Hurry to visit this highly unusual museum as the owner (Baron François Duesberg who relentlessly collected all the items shown during 50 years) is in poor health and the Mons city officials are ununderstandably reluctant to take overthis treasure.

Superb museum.
What to say? It would take more than 10 visits to appreciate all the wonders on display.
A passionate and fascinating guide drew our attention to some particularly rare and remarkable pieces.
In short, don't miss out on coming to this museum.

Our group of about forty seniors (Copin'Age asbl de Gembloux) had planned a short trip to the friendly city of Mons with a visit to the Duesberg Museum as a highlight. It is a truly superb place that houses an invaluable collection of clocks, porcelain, goldsmiths, jewelry... A museum like no other, an exceptional Guide and a very friendly meeting with the Baron. Not to be missed!

I had the privilege of visiting the magnificent Duesberg Museum, guided by none other than Baron François Duesberg himself. Thanks to his expertise and passion, I discovered the most exceptional pieces in his collection, each more dazzling than the last. A highlight of the visit was the stop in front of a clock given in 1802 by Bonaparte, 1st Consul to Bernardin de Saint-Pierre, Contributor of Paul et Virginie, the theme of the clock by Pierre Philippe Thomire, which I immediately shared in photo with Pierre-Jean Chalençon. He congratulated the Baron on his impressive collection, stressing the importance of preserving this priceless legacy for future generations. Thank you, Baron Duesberg, for these years dedicated to the conservation of this heritage where time seems to have stood still.

From the moment you enter, the Baron's world invades us!
An incredible collection of objects presented with care and which seem to invite us to use them.
All the windows attract us towards them while the desire to linger in each one tempts us irresistibly.
The Baron passionately shares anecdotes, his life and the moving memory of his wife who carefully prepared each object before exhibiting them.
The curator happily goes to each visitor to enrich us with his knowledge.
Impossible to look at everything, to see everything! We will absolutely have to go back to immerse ourselves in the fabulous world of Baron Duesberg.

Here is a little-known, magnificent, astonishing, scintillating museum, an enormous collection that will amaze you, whether you are a lover of ancient art or a neophyte. It's of all beauty ! And Baron Duesberg, 90 years old but in good spirits, accompanies you on the visit to tell you about the sweet madness that was his life, how he arrived at this collection. A pleasant, elegant man and very pleasant to listen to.

A museum where the clocks are all marvels, and in countless numbers. The Baron put them all back on track himself. Stopped at 10:10 a.m. for a smile. Gold sparkles everywhere in all its forms: matte, shiny, pink. We remain amazed and blown away by so much passion for unearthing objects of rare and crafted beauty. A guide, just as passionate and precise, will accompany you discreetly. We just think about coming back as there is so much to see. Porcelain, combs, Florentine mosaic tables, various objects all fight for the spotlight. Above all, don't miss this jewel which deserves it

Visit with a group of art lovers of this encyclopedic and breathtaking collection of pendulums but also porcelain and beautiful high-level objects. It is hard to imagine that a collection of this magnitude and quality could be assembled in a few decades. Visit warmly recommended.

This is an impressive life time collection of the "mad collector". The building which contains the objects is nice and atmospheric place. The collection contains the vast majority of valuable antiques of the 18th-19th century. The watch collection is a world-known asset. Some objects are effectively unique.
In my opinion it is a must have museum of an amateur of antiques

Before writing my feelings following the visit to the Duesberg museum, I read the latest comments, one of which particularly caught my attention, not to say shocked me.
I find the terms ".....in view of his character..." and "...out of pity for his age...." indelicate and even disrespectful.
The “bric a brac” is in fact a succession of display cases actually filled with various small, prestigious and period objects, responding to different themes and spanning the period of the 18th and first half of the 19th century.
Each window is a cabinet of curiosities with, generally, a few centerpieces decorated with various “objects” also associated by theme.
This museum can delight lovers of prestigious watchmaking and atypical clocks (some of which are unique in the world). It can also enchant people passionate about bronzes, prestigious porcelain, artistic goldsmithing, glass work but also arouse the curiosity of those who take the time to observe and understand the meaning of the collections.
For my part, I appreciated the fact that Baron Duesbetg, aged 90, took the trouble to come and provide many explanations with great enthusiasm and answer visitors' questions.
If some people don't like the museum, which is entirely their right, I think the majority of people can only be in awe of the scale of these unique collections.
They represent the work of a lifetime for this couple of passionate and erudite collectors.
Mr. Duesberg explained that he and his wife were ennobled as barons, each in their personal capacity, in 2004, by King Albert 2 who admired the museum.
Congratulations again to you.

The museum François Duesberg will remain open forever to the public as soon as the city of Mons has fully fulfilled the obligations to which it has formally committed itself to the founding patrons.
So there is unfortunately no definitive answer to this day.

Hi, Do you know its opening hours please?
Written 7 July 2015
Hi,
Opening on
Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from 14h00 to 19h00
And of course on request to +32 (0)65 36 31 64 for groups.
Kind Regards

Yes indeed.
But this can only be bought at the reception of this 3 x 2 stars Michelin Museum.
The owners of these private collections are now more than 80 years old and put all their energy to keep their museum alive and increase these fabulous collections.
A very good reason (among all others) to visit Belgium.
With best regards
