Although part of the exterior and interior is covered in scaffolding, this cathedral is worth a detour. The interior is hardly enhanced by the rows of plastic chairs, but you have to be impressed by the sheer scale of the building. If you want to...More

The five towers (originally 7 towers were proposed!!) of Our Lady Cathedral in Tournai are visible from a long way away...however nothing prepares you for the sheer colossal size of this Cathedral as you approach it, a lot has been said about the ongoing repairs...More

Very disappointed in this cathedral. Not only is a large portion of the outside clad in scaffolding, so is a large portion of the interior. What we did see was quite plain and uninspiring compared to other holy buildings in Belgium we’ve seen. I wouldn’t...More

The cathedral was still under repair but is still worth a look, in particular the roman footings that have been uncovered and are on display inside.

Not the best time to visit as the scaffolding inside and out is an eyesore but obviously necessary to preserve and maintain such buildings. It is free to visit and there are some very beautiful items to see inside such as the carved pulpit and...More

As previous reviewers have pointed out, much of the building is covered in scaffolding, but you can still see enough to appreciate the scale of the building and its ornate design. Unfortunately, much of the interior is also covered in scaffolding so exploration of its...More

Wonderful towering architecture, almost overpowering the nearby Bell Tower (which is a sight in itself). The outside is partly swathed in scaffolding at the moment but even so you get a sense of the immense scale. Inside is beautiful, with clean lines - and don't...More

The cathedral is being repaired/restored after some freakish weather occurrence few years ago. This should not distract from the cheer size and beauty of it’s towers and enclosed spaces. Worth coming to visit for sure, besides, it is a short walking from the train station.
