This was my second time here. This time lunch was served in between the sanctuary visits and the waterfall hike. Both had the same food and it was good, but the view from the upper restaurant was far better. I'm not fond of seeing animals in captivity, even though these are all rescues, so I won't say much about that.... More

A most enjoyable, amazing and extremely well organized garden, a place to spend 3-5 hours taking in the most beautiful sights: tigers, tropical birds, monkeys, butterflies, and the best, the walk to see the waterfalls!!! Breathtaking, each one leading to the next, a combination of beauty, natural force and total awe!!! Lots of steps to climb up and down but... More

There are three parts in this park. One is like a small zoo, second one is a main park path. I loved the third one, it's a long path on the left side. There was nobody, only rain forest sounds - it was a pleasure to walk there. It is better to plan at least 3-4 hours for visiting this... More

While the high end resort is certainly impressive, the beauty of this area overshadows all else. It is a little pricey but as soon as you walk into the visitor center and then make your way to the animal exhibits, you will understand why. And then the real reason you made the journey becomes evident. The waterfalls are amazing. Be... More

Went up for an overnight stay at Peace Lodge and to check out the waterfalls. All I can say is that everything is amazing-from the hiking trails to all of the animals-big cats, hummingbirds, butterflies, frogs, and snakes. This park is definitely worth the 1.5 hour drive from San Jose.

We had a guide for this garden which was really great to help identify all the wildlife. The falls are beautiful. There is a lot to see and do . When we were there it was very busy, Our guide said a better time to be there was when it opened in the am as it was less crowded. Great... More

We hired a driver from our hotel to wait for us, but we feel you could have reception from the office/gift shop call a cab or there is free Wi-Fi where you could probably try to get Uber. We felt a bit rushed since our driver thought we would be finished in 3 and a half hours.

This was a stop for us on the way to our lodging. It was a very nice place. The waterfalls were great! There are many exhibits there, but we only went to the hummingbird area since out primary purpose was to see as many birds as possible. There are feeders up as soon as you enter the gardens as well... More

Beautiful well kept La Paz gardens contains neatly maintained native birds, big and small cats, frog exhibits and a huge walk thru butterfly house. Most of the animals are rescued having been injured or formerly illegally owned. The visitor sees native animals they would never encounter on most vacations to Costa Rica. This spot creates an appreciation for the country's... More
