Booked on a Wednesday for a Friday kayak session. Drove from Brussels to enjoy “La descente de la lesse”. When we arrived with our booking confirmation at the desk they said “it’s all canceled“ and we have sent you an email to inform you. I mentioned that I didn’t receive any cancellation email either a call. They said it might be in your junk mail.

The mail wasn’t send even in the junk mail.
They didn’t call me.
And we all drove from brussels for nothing.

Moreover, the customer service was very poor. Didn’t propose a discount for any other activities.

Very disappointing!!!

Once you got on the river it was a lot of fun. The water level was low enough so that when I got stuck (who knew it was possible to be so bad at kayaking!!) I could just get out and dislodge myself. Lovely scenery - wildlife (ducks, geese, kingfishers) and castles. I would definitely recommend it!

Getting to the start point was a bit chaotic - everyone loaded up on a bus (even though we were wearing masks I did not like being so cooped up with so many people). There was a very funny and informative video playing in the bus that let you know what it was going to be like but other than that you got off the bus, went through the queue to your kayak and were shoved off without any explanation. It was hard to get away from other people, which ruined the tranquility of the place.

Dear, Thank you for sharing your opinion, no doubt it will help future customers to better figure the out what their kayak trip will be like :) The river Lesse is Indeed an incredible place, which is really worth to be seen at a more quiet period. Don't hesitate to come back on May/June or September for a brand new point of view on this experience !

Recently, I visited Dinant (famous city in Belgium, birthplace of saxophone inventor Adolphe Sax).
Famous spot/things-to-do: Collegiate Church of Notre Dame de Dinant, Citadel of Dinant, Meuse River, Kayaking.
I would not explain these spots in detail as you can GOOGLE it.

1) The city offers great view from the citadel along with some creative setup created to explain how the citadel was used in the former century (Maximum 2 hours).
2) The city is on the banks of the River Meuse where you can enjoy your food with a variety of cuisines available at the restaurants. You can also grab your food and enjoy it walking along the banks of the river.
3) At the entry of the Citadel you have an option to purchase a ticket costing about 10 Euros including the entry to the Citadel and the cable car. You can also purchase a ticket worth 17 Euros which additionally just includes a boat ride in the Meuse River. (I would not recommend this boat ride if you are planning for enjoying Kayak). You surely save 7 Euros.
3) After having visited these spots and with your tummy full you can walk down the road for about 3.5 kms to Dinant Evasion office. I personally recommend this walk along the river.
4) At the Dinant Evasion office, you can purchase the tickets on site or I would highly suggest to book your tickets online as during the holidays, this place can get crowdy and you wont get any Kayak available.
5) Kayaking is available in 2 options- 12 km and 21 km. If you are really really really fit then only opt for the 21 km option otherwise my personal opinion is that you select 12 km. This 12 km Kayak trip starts off at a different location but you have shuttle going to that spot at regular intervals from the Dinant Evasion office.
Tip- When you are making your reservation for the Kayak trip it provides you with several Kayak options. Don't look at the money difference, always select the COMFI-KAYAK. Its blue in color with a comfortable seat. This seems to be an easy journey but trust me at the end you shall be fully exhausted if you dont have a good comfortable Kayak.
6) Visiting Dinant info can be easily found on Google. #dinantourisme

The kayak experience is nice but keep in mind that you have 3 queue even when you pre-book. First queue to get tickets, second queue to get to the shuttle buses and the third to have you kayak and paddles. After this all waiting the guy letting us on the kayak was quite rude and pushed us on quickly. The queues were also not so well monitored and keeping the distances proved to be challenging.

Dear, Thanks for this warning, it may help lots of customers to figure them out how their kayak trip will actually take place. But please also notice that kayakking is much more easier et better organized if you avoid saturdays and sundays to visit us : never forget that, by 25°C, lots of people are in search of some freshness. Hope you'll mainly keep the sweet memory of the nature and the beautiful surroundings of the river,

Went on a Saturday afternoon. Bad up front - rules said no stopping due to COVID-19, which did not happen. Groups of people in their 20s (estimate) were stopped numerous times on the river bank, drinking, smoking, and some were very drunk or stoned. Groups were sometimes as large as 20 people. Some were rude and aggressive on the water. The river itself was beautiful, scenery was great, water was low, but still fun. Staff were good, and we were happy wth our vests and kayaks. Will NOT return on a weekend.

My son and I took the shorter kayak ride down the river. We went mid-week and to start with there was only 2 other kayaks on the river. It was just so tranquil. We let the other boats get ahead and just enjoyed the quiet. We wanted to just keep taking photos as everything was just so photogenic.
About half way we started to come across school groups, so it was less peaceful. But we then had to negotiate the 2 small drops and a couple of bits of quicker water. So that added some variety. The second half is less picturesque and so we then settled j to a rhythm and enjoy a bit of exercise to get to the end.
It was fabulous and I would highly recommend it. Take the comfort kayak as it has a back rest and 2 hours is quite a long time. You get a waterproof bucket for valuable and it shows behind the seat. Most of the time you can use a camera, but I suggest putting it away safely for the to drops as the boats do tend to take on quite a lot of water as you go over.

Have fun

We had an absolutely magical day! The whole excursion is very well organised and communication is excellent. We did the 21km route and we would do it again tomorrow if we could! 👌🛶🤩

I have wanted to plan my arrival well ,so I have tried to make a reservation on their site. But could not due to an error message saying you cannot reserve for the same day, even though I have tried to make a reservation in the future ( 2 weeks later) . So they site is no good !
Called the reception they said, "no worries you can come onsite without a reservation boats are always available".
Next Sunday I drove my family 150km , but upon arrival first thing: cannot pay with card because "the city did not cable their booth" ,even though the other companies had a Pay Terminal...
Once we get cash we see that the Dinant Evasion employee IS NOT GIVING ANY RECEIPTS for the cashed in money, this should be audited as it seems dodgy !
The very non motivated employee serves the locals before us without any questions, but when we Immigrants get in turn he asks loud and from far away, if we have a reservation.
We said NO ,as... OBVIOUSLY as their site is made 1912 style and not working ,see attached image.
Then on a very bossy tone, from all the local people present in line he tells only US that we need to com back 2 hours later , he will not serve us !!!
I called the company asked for a supervisor, the lady did simply not want to forward me to one, and than explained it is all my fault because I did not Organize well. In short no matter haw low their customer service is , it is always the customers fault.
AGAIN the right answer would of been the usual, " no worries Sir I'll talk to my colleague he will help you in 2 hours, and we are sorry for this disagreement"
Talking with superiority and bossy attitude to customers ,made no one rich ,EVER !

If you want to have a nice time ,go over to the other companies around there, take the 2h cruise (maybe bring some snacks with,, if allowed) your money will be better invested than paying 49 euro ,for a low quality boat and a negative attitude

Dear, Yes we endured some problems on our website a few weeks ago, but it's working now, even if its look is a little bit ... "vintage". However, our workers have no excuses if it really happened as you describe. The satisfaction of our customer is our main goal, and we will make this problem clear as soon as possible. Don't hesitate to contact us for more investigation, we are at your disposal every day by mail at info@dinant-evasion.be With all our apologize, Coraline

We joined all family and took a 12 km ride on river Lesse. It was an extraordinary experience where we had a lot of fun and could skip the daily gym or run. Everybody had a good day and we will for sure come back again.

TIP: For only 2 EUR extra you can have a better seat in the boats which I strongly recommend.

The scenery is lovely, but due to the large scale of this operation the river was so full of kayaks that it indeed felt like a bumber car track (as some other reviewer already described this), which totally ruined the experience. Especially disturbing were the drunken men in large groups who shouted obscenities to the passing women. #metoo #balancetonporc

Dear, We are sad to read what a bad memory you keep from your day on the river Lesse. Considering your comment, you probably came during a sunny week-end in July or Augustus. Yes indeed, there can be lots of kayaks on the river, and all people don't have the same respect for others than you or us. There is Nothing we can do against rude and bad-mannered people, unless recommend you to come back on a day when the crowd is away, during the week or in the months of June and September. For your complete information, we strengthened our rules since 2017, and the river is now more peacefull than in previous years. It's a hard work to offer the perfect getaway to everyone every day, but that's trully what we are working for. Looking forward to welcome you again, Coraline
