Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This life-size, full-length bronze statue of emperor Charles V (1500 – 1558) represents the Holy Roman Emperor in armour, holding a ceremonial sword in his right hand. It’s clearly a flattered portrait because there is no trace of his notoriously ugly Habsburg chin.

As mentioned on the pedestal, the statue was presented to Ghent by the Spanish town of Toledo in 1966. It stands on the site of the long-disappeared castle ‘Prinsenhof’ where the emperor was born. There is a large synthetic resin tactile mode of the palace close to the statue. Alas, the bronze original was stolen in 2011.

The Spanish imperial city of Toledo donated this bronze statue of Emperor Charles on a bluestone plinth in 1966. This was first placed on the Bisdomkaai, but in 1993 it was moved to the Prinsenhofplein where it actually belongs. Born in the Prinsenhof. The square is not a castle but he has to make do with it.
