It is just across from the main square. It has a lot of things going on: pubs, food. It is also a historical building and as everything in Ghent it is amazing. Don't just pass by it.

Allsorts going on, bars with heavy % beers, food in abundance, snails just outside to eat. Very busy hub just by Castle of the Counts.

This building, the original, Great Butchers Hall dating back to the Fifteenth century occupies a prime position adjacent to the River Leie and facing onto Groentenmarkt Square. One of the main City bridges is close by. Fully restored, it is now a centre for the promotion of local products. Internally, there is a splendid wooden roof and this is decorated... More

The building itself looks great from the outside. Inside it's just one bar and a tourist shop. You can walk inside for free but it's not worth looking around.

It looks very nice from the outside. On the inside you can see how it has been a place for food for ages. It's not the place I would eat, but a perfect place for a belgium beer - especially if the weather is a bit cold (as it was when we visited).

This building on Groentenmarkt looks interesting from the outside, but apart from a few parma type hams hanging from the beams, it is really quite disappointing.

I have walked through this on about 5 different occasions. The old architecture and knowing it was an old butchery is kind of cool, as are seeing the hams hanging from the rafters. But after that, it's quite bring. A weird trinket shop and small cafe are built inside, as are pay for use restrooms.
