This is a fabulous medieval castle steeped in Ghent history. It has nice interior grounds and lots of doorways to walk into and explore each level and underground. You can go to the very top and get great panoramic views of the entire city. Not to be missed!

Breathtaking castle in the heart of the city. You turn a corner and boom there it is. Classic mid-evil looking. Towers for arrow marksman, surrounded by a moat. Great for kids, the torture section is pretty mild, easy to by pass if you rather the kids not see it. But other than that, great castle for them to explore.

Well preserved 1000 years old castle. Nice exhibiton with English explanation on the boards. Spent about 1.5 hours with 3 little kids. They liked walking on the castle walls and the armour exhibition. The torture exhibition was a bit scary but they were very interested as well

Gent is a gorgeous city and this castle adds to the charm. Did a tour inside, not much to see but interesting nonetheless. A Must visit when in Gent

A beautiful medieval castle offering a lot of the dark history of Gent. A big focus on torture and executions. The view from the battlements is very impressive.

This castle is truly the most recognisable landmark of the old city center. Built over a thousand years ago. Although you will not really notice it, the current state is one that has been severely restored. From the tower tops you enjoy an amazing view over the city of Ghent. Absolutely a must visit!

Lovely castle situated right smack in the city centre. Majestic views in the evening. We paid €10 to get in for a self guided tour. There were 2 exhibits of the medivial arms and torture devices. Wished they showed more and had more detailed history of the castle. Nice views of the city from the top. Was done in about... More

A must if you visit Gent for a couple of days. Suits the whole family (maybe not the youngest children).
