Walking on these two streets is one of the most pleasant things to do in Ghent. There are little cafes and bars all along the river, and the architecture is incredibly charming. I cannot imagine having so little time in Ghent that one couldn't enjoy this area.

With a bottle of wine and some friends, with a book or just when you want to 'people watch', it's an awesome spot to sit down and relax. Here you find all the young Ghentian locals enjoying their city!

Two authentic streets along the main river. Time stood still here since the 1600's. Also plenty terraces here so nice to take a break here, have a Belgian Beer or a lunch whilst enjoying the views of the street on the other side. Also has to be visited during the night!!! Very beautifully lit up. Fairy-tale and very romantic!!!

This is truly the most beautiful place in Ghent. The historical facades of every home attract tourists, especially since the River Leie passes right by these lovely homes. Boats enjoy this river. All around the Leie are numerous flowers, making it even more attractive! It's quite romantic! There are many cafes here with a view on the river. It's quite... More

We fell in love with Ghent! We took way too many walks by the canal, and its was a great way to unwind! There are also a few bars along the way to help get warmed up in!

Most beautiful postcard spot of the inner Gent city. A must see during the day and at night (or evening) when the spot lights turn it into a fairytale.

The Graslei is always a busy place, with a vibrant atmosphere. The buildings with nice lighting in the evening/night, the bars and restaurants, the water and boats, it all adds up to become one of the best places of Ghent. Make sure to take enough time, soak in the possitive vibes in this place.

A lovely place with plenty of outside cafes etc just to sit and have a drink and people watch. Right among the very old buildings.

The whole center of Ghent is trafic free, or should be, but this waterside walk is without trafic surely one of the most particular places of the city. In winter, when not much youngsters are sitting alongside the water it is even better to see the old architecture of the buildings - don't forget to look upside...
