This is really not an attraction worth seeing as it looks just like any other side street with it's bars and restaurants. Nothing special.

Probably the most beautiful street by the River with houses in Gothic style. The best is to see it from different bridges and enjoy the skyline with the river in front. Nice quite area with numerous cafes, Bars and restaurants. After sunset this area truly comes to life with bright colorful lights and remains active till late at night. A... More

You visit Ghent for Grsalei and Kranlei. Its a street by the harbour of River Lei which houses the warehouses made in Gothic style in the medieval times. Some houses are as old as 1500s. Nice quite area with numerous cafes, joints, Bars, restaurants. But best part is no one bothers you. You can happily sit on the harbor for... More

Our Hotel - Harmony was along the Krannlei so a bit biased. Lovely area of Ghent worth a stroll. It meanders along the canal and into a busy street of restaurants.

Kraanlei is the canal side street in Patershol district in city centre of Ghent. This is where you find Het Huis van Alijn and more lovely canal side sightseeing. You will also find narrow passageways, cobble stone lanes lined with traditional step-gabbled buildings right along the canal and towards Gravensteen Castle, just a couple minutes walk away. Kraanlei is picturesque... More

The other side of the river is more interesting than theKraanlei, it is called the Graslei. More interesting and historical buildings there, including the tolhuis a small building which is now a cafe for drinks the, outsides of the buildings are very interesting. take your time when walking along the riverside and admire the outsides of the buildings.

If you find yourself in Kraanlei on the way to the Patershall district, look out for the vintage sweet shop at number 79. It is called Confiserie Temmerman and is an original sweet seller with all the glass jars. The seller gave me permission to take photos. I bought a small bag of liquorice confits for 2 euros (they sell... More
