From this beautiful bridge over the Leie you have a view over the Graslei and the Korenlei, the Sint-Michielskerk, the back of the Pand and of course the 3 towers of Ghent in one row. The bridge used to be a flat swing bridge, but at the beginning of the 20th century it was replaced by the stone arch bridge. In the middle of the arch is a beautiful central lantern with a bronze statue of St. Michael. There are also love locks attached to the bridge. The bridge is also beautiful in the evening, especially with the sparkle in the water. Take a photo from the Graslei or Predikherenlei.

This very pretty bridge was built to facilitate traffic flow for a world's fair. It still works carrying many vehicles and pedestrians and linking two parts of the central area of the city. Big church, St. Michael's, on one side. Lots of shopping and eating on the other side.

This bridge was built to modernize the center before the 1913 World Expo. It helped traffic flow. Now it is graceful and a good place to come because it is in the center of many historic buildings. Everything looks good here. Lots of places to sit and drink.

This is a great place to grab pictures of the churches and Belfry. It's packed full during the day so I recommend you go at night. Besides, you can walk along the canal after, simply sit there and enjoy a relaxing time.

When in Ghent for a few hours on our way to the F1 at Spa we took a walk across St. Michael's Bridge, a monumental stone arch bridge over the River Leie built around 1909. The bridge is the work of architect Louis Cloquet.
Views from the bridge are fabulous and give great tourist photo opportunities. You can see the Graslei and Korenlei with Gravensteen Castle further off. As well as the three Ghent towers: St Nicholas' Church, the Belfry of Ghent and the St. Bavo's Cathedral. It really is a great place to get a snapshot of beautiful historic Ghent (Gent). Well worth a visit.

One of the best spots for viewing the city. The views of the canal in both directions as well as the look back towards St Nicholas’ Church and the cathedral are all amazing. No doubt why this is on the list for everyone to come by here. You must come here and take some time to look all around. Stand on both sides of the bridge and look every direction, go along the promenades on both sides of the river around the bridge and just take it all in from this vantage point. Simply amazing.

We had a quick stop in Ghent, and this was one of the places we wanted to see! It’s worth the visit, as the views of the city are awesome from this bridge! I wish we had more time in Ghent, but glad we got to see this landmark before leaving!

The St. Michael's Bridge is a beautiful location in the city centre of Ghent where visitors are afforded lovely views and outstanding photograph opportunities.
The bridge is a three arch structure made of stone. It was erected in the early 20th-century to replace an earlier flat turnable bridge. The centre arch crosses the Leie. Side arches span across footpaths on both sides of the river. There are decorative lampposts on the bridge as well as a nice statue figure of St. Micheal slaying a serpent that is worth stopping by to enjoy.
What is most impressive about this bridge is simply its location. From the centre of the bridge, you can view down the Leie at the beautiful row of guildhalls known as Graslei and Korenlei. To the north and east you will see numerous historic buildings and landmark towers of the Historic Centre of Ghent. The views are really nice here even on poor weather days.

Stand on the bridge. Turn in any direction. Take a photo. It will be one of the most beautiful city photos you will ever take.

Hi,
I purchased online train ticket from Brussels to Ghent, its a weekend ticket.
But the train timings are not mentioned on that ticket.
Does it mean that I can board any train as per my convenience which is going from Brussels to Ghent.

Hi nikita g,
You can indeed take any train anytime you want. But just at the weekends. If you buy a normal ticket during weekdays, you can be onboard only after 9:00 AM.

What train should I take from Amsterdam to get to the St. Michaels bridge?
Written 26 May 2017
I just came back from Amsterdam yesterday!
The quickest way is to take the Express train to Brussels and change to Ghent,I suppose.
Better have a look on the railways's site
good luck,
