The 115 metres high brick tower of the Church of Our Lady is a perfect illustration of the craftsmanship of Bruges' artisans. The church displays a valuable art collection: Michelangelo's world-famous Madonna and Child, countless paintings, 13th-century painted sepulchres and the tombs of Mary of Burgundy and Charles the Bold.

We visited this church in late November 2016. Although the church appears to be undergoing some work internally you should not let this put you off. The entry fee was €4 each so reasonable given that this goes to maintaining the church. The high point is the Madonna and the Child by Michelangelo and this is one of the first... More

We were looking forward to visiting this church and the "Madonna and the Child" but the church was under renovation and freezing cold, lost all its positive energy. The worst is seeing Michelangelo's art from such a long distance. Definitely waste of our entrance fee.

Seeing Michaelangelo's work alone was worth the small admission. The oil paintings, sculptures, and metal work was also amazing. During the restoration of the church we could see where work was being done, but we felt quite welcome to explore the beauty around us.

The church is currently undergoing renovations, but seeing a genuine Michelangelo is definitely an experience. We sat down in front of her and just looked at her for a while. Of course it's behind protective glass and you cannot go very near either, but I urge everyone to pay the Madonna a visit. The rest of the church is also... More

Wow what a masterpiece and a must see. This is one of the treasures of Bruges that cannot be missed. It was in a recent movie and the history about it would make you understand its importance and how lucky we are it survived.

The church is great but the sculpture is worth visiting just on it's own. It's a part of the museum pass.

Lovely church, beautiful Windows and architecture. Took about half an hour. Lots of current work being done so probably more to see once this is complete.

Lots to see - tombs, Michelangelo statue, stained glass, wrought iron. Part of the church is currently under restoration. Many of the most beautiful things to see here are in the details (small items, wall decorations, carvings, etc). As this is close to the St. Bonifacious bridge and the Groeninge museum you can easily combine them.

Another must visit place in Bruges is the Church of Our Lady dating from the 13th century. Not only does it boast one of the tallest brick towers in the world, and the tombs of Charles the Bold and his daughter, Mary of Burgundy, two significant historical figures from the Middle Ages, the church also houses the beautiful and famous... You can see it but can't get a good picture as it is behind bulletproof glass. But I've seen it, so I'm happy.
