Definitely worth seeing. The Flemish Primitives (Van Eyck, Memling, etc.) alone are worth the visit. This isn't an "all day" museum like the Louvre or Metropolitan Museum. You can spend 40 minutes here and get on with your sightseeing. After you leave the museum, the garden path leading to the Onze Lieve Vrouwekerk (Church of Our Lady) crosses a little... More

There was a permanent exhibition of the Flemish Primitives, as well as an exhibition on the theme of Justice. Both exhibitions were very good collections. Unfortunately the Bosch Judgement wasn't in the Groeninger but in the nearby ArtHouse. Entry to the Groeninger gave access to the Art House so we were able to see it. Well worth a visit, but... A very nicely presented art museum. Fairly small, but with a fine collection and lovely surrounding grounds; it's easy to reach and a pleasure to visit.

This wonderful museum gives you some of the highlights of Flemish art, particularly the early Flemish Primatives. It is a small gallery and can be visited without ending up with "gallery leg"

I was lucky to walk into a guided tour through the exhibition about justice. I'm sure this enhanced the experience a lot. There are paintings from Graz, Maastricht, Wesel, and other places showing justice, with god overlooking the scene. In later times god is replaced by Justitia, usually a lady, sometimes blindfolded, sometimes not. There are several paintings of biblical... More

Spend an hour with Flemish Masters is not a bad way to spend your time! The details within the van Eyck masterpieces is breath-taking. There was also the opportunity to enjoy the vibrancy and 'strangeness' of one of Bosch's few paintings. AND, if you want the 'cherry on the top' of your artistic experience, after you've enjoyed the Groeningemuseum, get... More

I get easily bored in huge museums and galleries, so for me this was just the right sort of size - interesting until the end. Based on the theme of justice. Having visited Brugge a dozen or so times we finally got round to going, and we're glad we did.

Structured into five major parts, this exhibition reveals the evolution of the principles of justice since 1450. We walked through 120 exceptional works of art such as painting, drawings and books. This exposition gave us a realistic and scary feeling, supposedly it was meant to impress bad intentioned people at the time. Well, it worked on us. On a lighter... More

This is billed as the cities top fine arts museum. While a small space, it packs in a lot of art. Like most museums, it is closed on Mondays. The city of Bruges keep us very busy, there are many churches and museums to explore here. One leads right to the next, not far to walk to get to the... More
