The exhibition consisted mainly of books and the whole interior is under very low lighting, there are no English translations although you can have a headset. We were disappointed as the leaflets promise a lot more and for children there was nothing at all to...More

A new exhibition opened here last week based around a mediaeval anthology of songs and poems. This doesn't sound very interesting but we wanted to see inside the building so we paid to go in. We declined to pay an extra 4 euros each for...More

The previous time I visited Bruges, in 2007, I neglected to visit the Gruuthuse Museum, and was sad that I missed it. I made sure therefore, that it was on our itinerary this time around, and I'm glad we saw it! First of all, the...More

I agree with previous posts. Furnished with appropriate period furniture and artefacts this could be a lovely building to wander around. As it is, the not particularly interesting displays of silverware etc distract from the building itself.

From what we'd read we had thought this was more a museum of living in Brugges 17th and 18th centuries, i.e. displays of what the house was really like then. However, it was a fairly typical museum with artifacts on display, and decent explanations of...More

We were a little disappointed with this museum compared to other attractions in Bruges. It seems to be quite a random collection of exhibits, that often bear little or no obvious link to the city. Having said that, we did learn a few things of...More

This is supposed to be in an old palace but the inside is very ordinary. The theme of the museum is the history of Bruges so there are some interesting items but I'm not sure it was worth the money. It is due to close...More

Bruges has a lot of "museums" that are more like small collections of random old stuff to attract tourists. This is no exception. We had the pass so it was free thankfully. 20 minute stop for us, and left knowing the time was more or...More
