Bruges' City Hall (1376) is one of the oldest in the Low Countries. It is from here that the city has been governed for more than 600 years. An absolute masterpiece is the Gothic Hall, with its late 19th-century murals and polychrome vault. The adjoining historic hall calls up the city council's history with a number of authentic documents and works of art. A multimedia exhibition on the ground floor illustrates the evolution of the Burg Square.

Well presented history of Bruges

This was well worth a visit and the audio guide was a welcome addition. Entry to this also entitles you to entry to the Brugse Vrije.

This place had really gorgeous murals and a very, very thorough audio guide that explained in detail all the art, what it meant, and the historical significance. Totally worth it.

Even though it is just one room (excluding the side room with artefacts in) there is so much detail and grand splendour to take in. The amount of detail in the decoration and murals requires a lot of studying. For €4 each (or part of the €20 multi venue ticket) it is a must visit for Bruge - especially on... More

There isn't a lot here, still it is worth a few minutes of your time even on the busiest schedule to pop in and admire the wonderfully carved wooden ceiling and to see the old maps and paintings that show how little Bruges has changed since the 15th century.

If you go up the stairs you end up in a fabulous hall. There are wall paintings all around, about historic events. The ceiling too is splendorous. In an additional room some historic items are shown, with some background information.

Slightly disappointing. Only one main room to see and ththe other building is not clearly marked for visitors. The building is beautiful from the outside with little to see inside.

There is so much history to see in Bruges, but this and the Basilica stood out for us. It also doesnt take too long

For the price of €4 per adult, this is well worth a visit. This City Hall is one of the oldest in the country. The building has a lovely exterior where there are a number of statues on the facade. However, the Hall is magnificent with its murals, statues and golden ceiling. The murals show important events in the history... More

Excellent exhibit which takes approximately 25 minutes to visit. Your entry fee here also gains access to the Vrije which is worth the fee.
