The lockers they offer are too small, even the XL is a joke. And also is expensive. In the XL it only fits one cabin suitcase! And they offer then to leave your heavy bags and enjoy Brugges. Such a bad joke as I wrote.

We expected more! It is something more for families with Kids. The best was the VR Part, but it was too short. If you do not have the time for one of the superb museums it might be a nice illustration.

Thank you for your feedback. We are also sorry to read that the visit did not totally meet your expectations. The visit to the Historium Story consists of 2 parts: the first part is the Story itself, where you walk through 7 themed rooms with an audio guide and follow the story of Jan van Eyck's apprentice Jacob. The second part of this visit is the Historium Exhbition, an interactive exhibition where we go deeper into the different themes of our story. In this way we try to be accessible for everyone (regardless of age, origin or background knowledge). Our apologies if this was not quite clear.

My partner and I, both early 30s, really enjoy learning about the historical background of the country we are visiting, and, from their website, felt that a trip to the Historium would be a good way to do this during our weekend in Bruges. We were SO very wrong. We each got a ticket for the story and 'exhibition', which turned out to be extortionate for the experience we had. We walked through a series of rooms with an audioguide (some warning RE: the claustrophobia-triggering nature of the experience would have been appreciated) and watched a 'film' scene by scene, which was supposedly a love story set in Bruges. Neither of us, 2 intelligent people, could see any sense in the 'storyline', and it was pretty much unrelated to Bruges! The scenery and set design within the rooms was impressive and well executed but rendered pointless due to the ridiculous film. There was also a chapter in the film depicting a brothel, with accompanying scenery, showing nude female anatomy. We are led to believe through their marketing that part of their target audience is children, so we feel that parents and carers should have the opportunity to make an informed decision about whether or not they feel that exposure to these images and themes is suitable for their child at this time, but there was no evidence of this. The exhibition after was average at best, but we learned more from Wikipedia. We can't really understand who would enjoy this experience- it's not engaging enough for children, nor does it have any substance or educational value for adults!
We left feeling very puzzled. Thankfully, we could find the funny side to such a shambles but this didn't remedy how much money we spent on the 2 tickets. Don't be fooled by the eye catching fairy lights hanging off the balcony, either!! I'd strongly recommend that the Historium undertakes some serious remodelling of the service that they are providing- there is potential there, but they need both creative and executive staff who are qualified and know that they're doing because the whole service comes across as incredibly amature.
Would like to add that the staff we came across were very friendly and helpful.

Sorry to read we haven't met your expectations. We have reconstructed medieval Bruges in our Story, where you follow a ficitive story, but everything is based n true facts. In the Exhibition you can learn more about the different themes you saw in our Story, and there you'll find more background information. Maybe that wasn't clear? I also read your comments on the claustrophobia, but there is a sign at the entrance of the Story visit. About the brothel, this i a bath house, which was very important for a medieval capital city like Bruges in the 15th century.

The Historium is located in the Bruges city centre (Market Square) and is easily accessible by public transport.
Open every day, including Sundays and public ..
In the Historium Story we take you on a time trip to medieval Bruges. Let yourself be swept up in a wonderful love story while walking through 7 historical themed rooms – magnificent medieval backdrops, with film, music and special effects. Using the audio guide you will hear everything about the Golden Age of Bruges and imagine yourself back in the time of Jan van Eyck. The Historium is located on the Market Square, where the Waterhalle used to be. This was the central warehouse for the shipping industry in the thriving trading city. The location has been reconstructed in the attraction and gives your visit an extra dimension.
A must visit while in Brugge

My family had a terrific time walking through this very clever interactive tour. A few places were a little dark, but my phone flashlight came to the rescue. Keep in mind there are some steps to go up. We skipped the VR headsets, although that looked like fun. The tour ends on a balcony overlooking square. Great views.

We had been here 7 years ago and wanted to return as our children were older. The VR experience was great fun and the kids loved it and learnt about the history of Bruges. After the VR story we learnt about the history of Bruges in an entertaining story as we passed through the Historium. This is a must for those visiting this beautiful city, great for kids and adults alike.

Having marvelled at the splendour of the beautiful city of Bruges (Brugge) for a few days without knowing any history of the place, this exhibition answered all my questions. The staff were all friendly and smiling and helpful. The VR show at the beginning was fun and the headphone audio tour was also fun and informative and even incorporated the use of olfactory senses! I didn't pay the extra €4 to go to the top of the tower, but was more than satisfied with the view from the balcony anyway. I love that this place is located on the actual site of where the original Waterhalle once stood. (Wikipedia states "the Waterhalle was the largest covered harbor in Europe and thanks to its unique construction a real Bruges wonder of the world". 5 stars! 🤩
