Excellent trip. Patrick is a superb guide- extremely knowledgeable but pitches at correct level for family group. Two half day trips were a good decision. Gave us a really good sense of the area.

We were 3 couples travelling from Canada to Belgium and knew we had to take in a tour of the Ypres - Salient region to learn more about WW1 from a Canadian perspective. I can't believe how lucky we were to find Patrick and 2Xplore Flanders Fields tours. He was an amazing tour guide - so passionate and knowledgeable of the place where he grew up and the history that happened here. He took us to places we never would have found on our own as well as the sights that everyone sees. With the help of pictures and stories, Patrick painted a true picture of what it was like during the war and the atrocities that happened here. You will not regret booking your tour with Patrick - you won't find anyone better to make history come alive. Thank you very much Patrick for an excellent learning experience and sharing your passion.

I booked a private half-day tour with Patrick of the Ypres Salient that I would highly recommend. He gave me detailed information on how to Ypres from Brussels and made the fantastic recommendation to arrive early and explore the In Flanders Field Museum. Patrick was not only deeply knowledgeable and passionate about the history of the region but also sought to better illustrate the history through photos and maps. I also appreciated that he allowed time for photos and quiet reflection at each of the sights. Many thanks to Patrick for a truly unique, memorable, and meaningful experience!

We so enjoyed our tour of the Flanders Fields area. Patrick was very knowledgeable and passionate about the tour - it was obvious he has researched the topic and was very well versed in the subject. Patrick spoke excellent English and was very personable. We traveled from Ghent and it was well worth the trip. Highly recommend to anyone interested in WW1 history.

Our second tour with Patrick was as brilliant as the first back in 2016. Response to emails and planning of the tour is prompt and detailed. On the day, Patrick is punctual and friendly. His knowledge is superb and he has done his research into the personal information relating to your relative/s. He provides a well-presented folder and follows up with an email with links to further information relating to topics discussed. We have absolutely no hesitation in highly recommending Patrick.

After discovering that my ancestor had fought and died in the battle of Belwaarde Ridge in Ypres (WW1), we decided to make the trip to Belgium. Patrick took us on the most amazing tour, bespoke for our needs. As a family we found this tour both educational and emotive. Patrick had researched our story and his overall knowledge was outstanding. The day from start to finish was an experience we will never forget.
Thank you Patrick - five stars! Looking forward to our next visit

Thank you Wendy for your nice review. It was my pleasure taking you as a family on a personal tour, being able to explain to you what exactly happened over here during the Great War, and being able to show where your ancestor, Private Edward Backlog, fell in action during the battle of Bellewaarde Ridge. Lest we forget ! Thank you again for your visit, Best Regards, Patrick

Patrick kindly fitted my husband in for a morning private tour of Flanders Fields. Picking us up in Ypres, and gave us a very full commentary as he drove us to the different places of interest, focusing on New Zealand’s involvement in the conflict our Grandfathers were involved with, with Passchendaele and Messines being of particularly of interest to us. Patricks knowledge is outstanding and he was able to put a very personal touch to our tour. We received far more than we could have imagined, and would recommend the tours to anyone. Thanks Patrick!

Patrick shared his passion and knowledge through an extremely well organized dialogue and tour of the Flanders Field area. He cleverly took us back to 1914-1918 through his excellent commentary, exploration of historically pertinent locations, along with battle maps and pictures from the WW1 era. We felt as though we were fully transported to the Era. The tour was extremely personal and shared with 2 other British gentlemen with similar interests who had extensive knowledge of the war at YprƩs.

A highly memorable day with a knowledgeable and passionate guide whose military experience added to the tour. Patrick was able to explain the events around Ypres with plenty of pictorial material and bring to life the events of 1917 and take us to the sites and cemeteries where the most important battles took place. The day finished with a visit to Ypres for "The Last Post" which was quite moving.
If you want to see and understand the places and events of the Battle of the Ypres Salient then you could not find a better guide than Patrick Jonkheere.
