We've done a lot of hiking and this was one of the best. There is a website with all of the necessary facts and guidance: en.rotavicentina.com. We did two segments in two days, the Odeceixe Beach Circuit Trail, a 9 km circuit, and the trail from Odedeixe to Zambujeira do Mar, a hearty 18km hike. We stayed in Lisbon, drove... More

I walked different parts of this magnificent trail!! The Fisherman's trail is the most stunning part. I printed the routes from the internet. There is only beautiful and quiet nature in this part of Portugal. I walked the trails in the end of oktober and the beginning of november. The weather was great, sunny all the time and a nice... We stayed in Sao Teotonio and hiked several sections of the Rota Vicentina. The sections close to the cliffs are truly amazing. Quite some sections are sandy (dune like) trails and therefor more heavy to hike. The rocks formations of the cliffs are breathtaking. we appreciated most the section between Zambujeira and Odeceice

We walked sections of this trail over the course of 3 days. The terrain is mostly sandy coastal trails, which are located along the high cliffs overlooking the ocean. There are some steeper up and down sections which bring the trail down to the beach level and some areas of the beach are walkable during low tide. Feels very remote... More

We hiked five segments of the Fisherman's Trail (Rota Vincentina) over a five day period in July. While it was hot when the wind failed to blow, it was spectacular and we all had a great time. The trail winds along the rim of the cliffs of the coastline, stopping occasionally in the picturesque villages along the way. While the... More

Why you should do it: after one day walking, all the complicated things that you may have to deal with at home will be GONE. It will be only nature, kind locals, fresh Sagres or super bock and food. A great way to free your mind. How you should do it, aka what I wished I had read before going... More

If you are fond of a coastal walk, the Fisherman's Trail is one for you. We only did short sections, but the whole pathway is extensive, beautifully varied, and follows the dramatic, rocky coastline of this quiet rural area. Delightfully flowery sand dunes. Charming seaside towns with good cafes, restaurants and sailing - Porto Covo and Villa Nova do Milflores... More

We walked 11 days on Rota Vicentina end of May 2016. We booked all our accommodations directly ourselves, using information on the Rota Vicentina website. We had our lodging coordinate taxis to take our luggage to our next destination each day and this worked out fine. Taxis were 15-20 euros which is a bit expensive, but we really only wanted... More

We had a fantastic experience walking the trail in early June. We started in Porto Covo and had intended to walk to Vila da Milfontes. We abandoned that plan as the weather forecast was dire, and thunderstorms and heavy rain was predicted. As it turned out the sun came out and it was a gorgeous day. We missed the walking... More

In May 2016 we walked a section of the Rota Vicentina for 3 days, and it is beautiful. I highly recommend this trail. Day 1: Herdade do Touril to Zambujeira and return. Day 2: Zambujeira to Odeceixe (pronounced "odd-sesh"). Day 3: circular track from Odeceixe. As it was spring, the wild flowers were out and the storks were breeding. When... More
