I entered thinking I'm entering a church, not a museum. Had I known, I would have probably skipped it, as I normally prefer just strolling the streets and taking atmosphere in instead of spending hours looking at sculptures and paintings crammed indoors. However, the lavishness...More

An interesting museum and well worth a visit. The museum is set in an old convent and the wall tiling, church with several altars and the cloisters were of particular interest.

The building starts out with some dramatic pieces from the original church. Lots of gold and pretty things. Then, in the rest of the museum, there are interesting pieces from the area, some quite old stones. Interesting coin pieces and other roman era discoveries.

It is clear that the museum has not had any review of its displays and perhaps is rather short of money but it is still an interesting spot. Some of the exhibits could do with more explanation.

This museum used to be a cloister and the richness of Baroque is everywhere. It was also the place where the author of the famous Portuguese Letters lived her life as a nun. I strongly recommend a visit to this museum. It is small and...More

This museum is one that should be more interesting to visit than it is. There are many interesting items but it looks like they need more professional curation to display and explain things with the detail a person interested in history desires.

Fantastic building with a good collection, but not well presented. Staff seemed uninterested. Rather oldfashioned and outdated compared to modern and ambitious museums.
