Traveled to Estremoz from Evora to explore the farmer's market (which was varied and interesting) and also to visit the Tower. We were able to see it from the exterior....which was beautiful, but the hotel that "owns" the access to the Tower had closed the access for a private event, so we were unable to go up to the top.... It is well worth the 40 minutes drive from Evora to visit the tower and admire the formidable views of the town and the surrounding countryside from the top. You enter through the Pousada and reach the stairs located on the left, they absolutely do not mind tourists stopping by and the access is free. Make sure to stop at... More

The area needs to be maintained and refurbished, only the tower the hotel and 2 streets look fine, the rest had been trashed and never been looked after

When you dream of staying at a Castle, you never imagine that it can be so comfortable and charming. Great place, the rooms are comfortable, good service, I loved the corridors, dining room, living room and all the common areas, greatly representing the olden times. It has a lovely and refreshing swimming pool as well.

This hotel in a modified castle has 35 rooms but only three have double beds we were informed. We were give a choice of an excessively large room for an up-charge but the room looked stark, bare and uninviting and the views from the window were not really spectacular or visible from the bed. So we took the more cozy... More

One should stay at this magnificent pousada, at least for a night. Nevertheless, go and visit the olace, filled with history. Parts of the old covent, the menage tower and many historical rooms are accessible for non guests. Go to the top of the tower. Wonderful view of the surroundings. Not to miss!

Of course you have to visit this castle when coming to Estremoz. And if you are staying in the Pousada rainha Santa Isabel, you don't need to come out as yu are already inside the castle...It is located at the top of the city of Estremoz. Amazing views of the city and the region!

Stunning views of the surrounding hills from the Parador terrace/bar. Room was spacious and comfortable --- again with great views. We had fun exploring the village with it's narrow cobbled streets (looking for the director's metal chairs). Palacio de Sade, remnants of a castle at the top of the town and church well worth the walk which is not far... More
