We have a passion for megaliths. And sharing this passion is our mission.Present day Evora is in the center of an ancestral landscape that has a significance for all Humanity. Here you can find the remains of some of the oldest monuments of mankind in Western Europe. The early farmers and shepherds that created them, some 7500 years ago, didn't just create beautiful and impressive monuments - they have envisioned an entirely new way of relating with their world and have set the foundations for our current way of life. The megaliths, embodying the new ideology of this period in it's fullest - the domestication and transformation of the natural environment - remain today as distant messages, hidden in the fullness of time.Join one of our tours and discover more about your own history.

Excellent tour. The sites were well explained by a knowledgeable archaeologist who led the tour. A very efficient and friendly way to see the megaliths.

If one is anywhere near Evora and has the slightest interest in history and/or archaeology, you must take this tour with young archaeologist Mario who grew up in this area playing among the ancient megaliths and burial tombs . He is passionate about not just archaeology but also his homeland . Mario and his driver Maria picked us up along... More

Prior to the tour with Mario, I only had vague memories of this period of human civilization history from school. By being amongst these ancient sites, he stoked my curiosity and I truly appreciate doing this tour with him. Very worth a few hours of time and €25.

The Ebora Magalithica Guide Tour conducted by Mario Carvalho was fascinating, informative and well worth the 25 Euros. Mario has a Master degree in Archaeology and is very knowledgeable about the subject. The sites are located about a half hour from Evora. He came in a clean air conditioned van to my hotel to pick me up. On the drive... More

The whole experience with Mario and Maria was incredible. Truly, I had the best of times. They start by picking you up wherever you are staying at and then they drive you to see three monuments. Mario was incredibly knowledgeable and without his comments, we would of never have enjoyed the monuments as much. Truly worth every penny! Great experience... More

Mario is a special type of your guide, equal parts knowledgable, passionate, and able to convey material in ways that anyone from a 6 year old to a Doctor of prehistoric archaeology would benefit from the tour. I'm a cheap student and had to think for quite a while before spending the 25€, but this experience was easily worth double... More

I actually visited in August, 2014. I just forgot to write a review afterwards, sorry about that. I recall how passionate and knowledgeable that Mario was about the subject. This tour alone is worth fitting Evora into a visit to Portugal. The more people that join this tour, the higher the awareness will be of the government just abandoning these... More

Mario's tour of the local megalithic sites is outstanding. He is clearly an expert on the Evora sites, neolithic humanity in general, and preservation issues. On top of that, he is broadly knowledgeable about the area, such as cork farming, local history, and politics. You won't regret signing up for this tour.

We visited the megalithic rock formations outside Evora. It was a fascinating and educational experience. Take the time to take this tour. Mario gave us great information and his passion for archaeology was contagious!

One of the highlights of our 2 week trip to Portugal! Mario is an archaeologist passionate about preserving these megalithic structures (think Stonehenge) now completely open to the public, often on private lands - with no or little governmental protection. Mario gives a three hour guided tour of 3 sites. He is a wealth of knowledge about the history and... More
