Nice day trip if you're in the area but wouldn't travel for hours for it , took ferry from tavira for 2.20€ return , mosquitos were terrible got bitten bad as did many others, tavira is a cute little town , ten minutes walk from tavira Station, seen it once not eventful enough for me to go back …

Our second trip by ferry. Lovely walk round the island ending up on the beach. Didn’t have a meal this time, just a beer, but were welcomed.

Ilha Deserta is a must see in my opinion when in Faro. We took the €5 ferry (€10 return). As you exit the ferry to your left is the path to the beach which faces the Atlantic Ocean. On your right is another path that takes you to another smaller beach with calmer water which faces onto the Ria Formosa. It was not busy and we wish we had more time there. There is only one seafood restaurant there which is quite expensive so I’d recommend taking lunch and lots to drink with you.…

The island is beautiful but people are killing it. If the "owner of the island", the boats, the restaurant does not urgently start an education from the moment people buy the ticket, the island will soon stop being an attraction. I saw many people taking bags full of shells home, leaving their waste, in short, if there is no education, paradise will not last.…
