This Church seems to stay closed except for Masses. In fact it is gated and locked in my experience. We attended 10am Mass there, or least we attempted to. Within minutes of arriving I felt that the Church was suffocatingly warm. I left to get water and was back in time for the Mass (in Portuguese). Even after drinking water... More

Closed when I arrived but the man sitting around the side kindly unlocked the door. Inside you walk the sacristy which is a mini museum and then enter the church which is very dark. I never use flash in churches out of respect even when there's nobody there and it was hard to get a good picture. The alter is... More

The church is entered via a small museum which is quite interesting with local artifacts etc. Nominal entrance fee. The church (although gold) is not that well lit and would benefit from more lighting to really make the gold shine. Wonderful carvings etc and worth a visit

paid a visit to this church. It also contains a small museum. The ceiling was being restored when we were there, but it was still worth the visit. €3 fee to enter, but discovered it was free on Wednesdays.

I like the work done, although I think what little pay the church did for such a detailed job. The church grandeur at the expense of the poor.

I've given this one star because I went 3 times at different times of day and it was never open. Rather disappointed as it was top of my list to see.

Appears to be a regular old museum type set-up with a bizarre array of artefacts and displays, but just wait until you enter the main chapel itself! Magnificent doesn't do it justice.

Another church that we tried to visit but it was closed. We were hoping to see the bone chapel. Perhaps next time. At least we were able to admire the exterior architecture.

This is a great church. A little small but well worth the visit. The skulls / bones are interesting and may be a bit macabre for the kids.
