If you want to see a vista of south western Portugal from the best vantage point possible, then make sure that you visit this place. The views are breathtaking. It was a shame that the day we visited was so hazy; on a clear day the views would be better than what we saw. There is a natural water spring... More

If you are lucky enough to get a clear day you can see about 30 miles of coast-line from here. Much of the time there is a heat haze but still a stunning vista.

Although this is a windy climb up the mountain, the views from both sides make it all worthwhile. On a clear day you can see the mediterranean and the atlantic oceans, Portimão, Alvor, Lagos, Sagres and almost Alzejur. There are also cafes and shops at the top for additional refreshments. Definitely worth the effort!

Well worth the trip for the stunning views from the highest point in the Algarve. There are places for refreshments and also a gift shop. We just spent the time we had enjoying the scenery.

We enjoyed the easy drive up to the peak. Depending on the visibility and weather the views are gorgeous. The peak area holds many antennas and a restaurant and local art shops.

We had been on a drive up from Silves, passed the lakes and St Bartholmew da M essinesand up the mountain to Monchique. Took the Foia road and had some lunch looking over the wonderful and slightly scary view and then headed up to Foia. The views up there are amazing and well worth the journey up.

A car excursion of one hour from the coast to the heights of the Algarve, Foia. . You need a good clear day to appreciate the spectacular views from the top. Having wind round many a curved road, you want to see something at the top. Cafe/bar, large shop to buy Algarve style goods, and very good local crafts on... More

It's a nice place to stop, have a little picnic and enjoy the views. In February definitely quiet and unless it's a hazy day, you can see as far as the ocean. Personally, I found the drive up the long winding roads in the shade of eucalyptus and native trees more rewarding. On top of Mount Foia, there is a... More

We had a lovely view from the top, we could see right along the algarve coastline. It was cold and windy but well worth it. It was lovely to see a herd of goats wandering round with the goat herder. The drive up was very enjoyable and some time in Monchique is worthwhile.

Thank Chris W
