Positives - easy to locate and pleasant to walk around, although there is no signage taking you to the actual spring itself, so you may end up doing what we did, which was to walk around in a circle, take a nod at the font...More

Lovely walks around the village typically Portuguese and not touristy which we liked. Nice stroll into the woods where there was some unusual places to stop & have a picnic shaded to keep cool.

Nice little village, historic water ducts important but not well preserved. Fill up water point at fonte. Back of hotel super ugly. Can start picota walk here, bottom quarter section near where caches and Lottie's park at the back of the hotel,

This is a village out in the wilds and is difficult to walk to as it is down a very long steep hill. Ok if you have a car but a lot of visitors do it on excursions and the coaches cannot get down. There...More

The Caldas has been updated and improved for the modern traveller; new hotel and surroundings. the old "bath house" is still there, but no longer cared for.

In Monchique I would thoroughly recommend restaurant "A Charrete" near the center of the village. They have won several prizes but still keep that rural ambiance. they do most of the famous local dishes...
