Hominis natura is an enthusiastic young company based on the Island of Pico. We are thrilling to give you, your family and friends a once in a lifetime experience. We see life from a different angle and extend that view in our company philosophy. We deeply care for nature and good local food which is why we try to contribute to conserve the environment and develop local sustainability with our actions. We are a fusion of Azorean and Belgian culture. Together we speak English, Português, Nederlands and Français. We would love to share our knowledge and experience with you so come and join us on one of our activities.

Our family loved Steffi and the private tour she gave us of Pico island. We only had one day on the island, yet we feel like we left with a thorough understanding of the island and its history. We saw many beautiful viewpoints and learned so much about the history of wine production on the island. We're still dreaming of the delicious picnic lunch and her homemade dessert. Thanks Steffi!

Thank you, Steffi, for a wonderful day on Pico Island. Your knowledge of the island and the off the beaten trail locations made the experience exceptional. Thank you also for the fabulous homemade picnic lunch with an awesome view that demonstrated traditional picnic cuisine. Your attention to detail and desire to make the tour personal is also appreciated. Please also pass our thank you on to Kevin for joining us as an additional guide. We felt very privileged to have him included.

Even though we had to cancel our climb to Pico due to adverse weather conditions, Steffi was readily available to provide an alternative to make up for our disappointment and showed us these amazing off-trail "not touristic" caves. Steffi is super knowledgeable about geography, geology, biology, history and taught us loads. Great sense of humor :) 100% sure our climb to Pico will be with Steffi, Thank you!

We had a amazing experience with Steffi as our guid in a smaller private group.
It was in quite tough weather conditions with wind, rain, ice, and a small bit of sunshine….
Steffi our guide did an excellent job and we all felt safe and she kept us in a good mood all the way to the top of Mt Pico.
Everyone in good condition can reach the peak, it’s more about the weather conditions!
5 star to our guide Steffi!

We got the tip to book the guided hike up Pico with Hominis Natura from another company which had already closed for the season. And it was a very good tip! Steffi is a very experienced, knowledgeable and also funny tour guide, full of interesting stories. She times the breaks throughout the hike very well, making it less of a tour de force than we had expected. She also gave us ample time to enjoy our lunch at the peak. We warmly recommend her and her colleagues from Hominis Natura.

I did last week the tour "climbing Pico". The tour was organized perfectly - although the weather changed - like the Azores are - several times that day. Nilton was the perfect Guide. Takes care of the slowest members and provide during several stops very good explanations about nature, geography, vulcano-structures etc. with all interactions. He was very friendly and had a good sense of humor. I like it.

The organisation of climbing Pico was done very easily for us, response to our request and communication with Steffi fast and informative! I liked that we were only a small group of 7 people. Special thanks to Nilton for his professional guiding on Pico. It was a real challenge for me, but with Nilton as a guide I felt always safe and I can highly recommend Hominis Natura!

Great kayaking from Sta. Cruz to Pontas Negras. Boats in great condition, the coastline was beautiful and guiding excellent.

Steffi took us for a day tour around Pico Island. We saw many aspects of this beautiful island, visited the caves, went swimming in a natural seapool followed by deliciously prepared fresh lunch! She told us a lot about the history of Pico, the flora and fauna, the wine industry and whale hunting. Many enjoyable adventures!!

We've had the chance to do the Pico night climb with my two teenager kids, expertly guided by Steffi. We are used to hiking and would normally have climbed without a guide during the day but because it was a night climb and we've read that the weather conditions can be difficult, we chose to join a group with a guide (who has all the necessary equipment and knowledge of how to react in adverse conditions). It was definitely a good choice : we were in a small group, could spend some time sharing our experiences and learning about life in Pico, and I also quickly realized it would have been much more difficult to find the right path up without a guide at night ! It was a truly amazing experience and definitely one of the highlights of our trip to the Azores ! Thanks Steffi !
