Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our daughters had climbed Pico in 2021 with their young friends all in their 20’s and advised me against climbing at age 71. They had done many hikes in preparation for Pico and I had not. So with some trepidation I took on the challenge. Nilton was the ideal guide for me as I would have taken off too fast if it weren't for him setting a moderate pace for the group of 12, all decades younger than me. I knew getting to the top wouldn't be the worst part. I appreciated my good hiking boots and gloves were very worthwhile due to the need to hold onto sharp rocks especially on the descent. I found it useful to go down backwards as on a ladder at the worst sections and had no falls whereas some of the younger people had many slips and falls. Wonderful visibility at different stages of the climb and it was such a buzz to get to the top and look down through clouds to the land and ocean below from a height of over 3 times my local mountain in Ireland, Croagh Patrick. Getting down was much more manageable than I expected with our guide, Nilton assuring me my fitness level would see me through for the descent. He gave us an excellent introduction and informative commentary at the 5 stops he took on the ascent and 3 on the descent. I was thrilled with such a wonderful experience and a confidence boost and wouldn’t rule out doing it again with such a wonderful guide.

My wife and I hiked Mount pico with Steffi. It was an amazing experience. She is very knowledgeable and very cautious at the same time. We always felt like we were in good hands. The hike can be difficult at times, but she guided us with great skill. I highly recommend hiring Steffi and highly recommend hiking MountPicco!

We and another couple had a truly enlightening and thoroughly enjoyable full day Island trip with an expert guide Andrei. He is passionate about Pico. We were hugely impressed with his excellent knowledge of all aspects of Pico history, geology, nature, archaeology, whaling and the wine growing business. We were provided with a substantial and delicious lunch of local foods and wine. I have travelled and taken many tours including on other Azorean islands but never with such a knowledgeable affable guide.

The experience of hiking up to the highest peak of Portugal was amazing! Although hard, we managed without any experience to get up ad down with the help and mentoring of Stephie, who by the way was such a blast!

Steffi and Nilton from Hominis natura were amazing. What passion and energy they both displayed. They are knowledgeable and kind. Nilton was our guide climbing Pico, and we couldn't have asked for anybody better! Steffi took us all around Pico and brightened everyone's day with her cheerful attitude and through knowledge of the Island. I look forward to seeing them both again.
