Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We first came on a rainy day and seemed to be the only visitors - it was magnificent to feel as if in a tropical rainforest. But rain in the Azores gets you soaked quickly, so we came back later, and the garden was even more beautiful in the sunshine. Tip: from their rose garden (or from the observation spot above, next to a palace) you might see bats flying, and it's the only bat species in the world that are not nocturnal, so add something unique to your visit to Ponta Delgada.

Overgrown and only a few interesting trees and giant bamboo. Poorly signposted and no maps. Many better free options on the island.

Lovely day walking around several gardens.
The Botanical gardens are really lovely to sit and rest aching feet.
Great for the spirit too

Very cool - mostly trees from all over the world. Huge, towering trees some with a huge circumference. Lots of paths wending through forest sections. Bamboo groves too. Portuguese tile plaques throughout explaining local history. Several roosters with glorious plumage strolling around and cock-a-doodle doing. About 5 euros entrance fee, which was worth it. Kiosk and chairs in meadow for beverages.

Waste of money. Privately owned, overgrown and uninteresting. Hardly a bench in site to rest. Family "palace" not accessible. "Pond" brackish and scum filled. What are they thinking?

The garden wasn’t to big for exploring so it was just right for an hour or two of walking. The trees in the garden were massive and I was really impressed by them. You really think about how small we are. The rose garden didn’t have any roses because we visited in February but overall, it was a nice visit. The ticket was 5 € per person (adult).

A privately owned garden and so there is an entrance fee here. I went with a group so cant remember what it was but not very much. Some very old tree and huge bamboo stands.
Mainly greenery at this time of year but promise of colour from springtime. Would go again.

This garden is not worth the 5€ entrance fee. It is not very big and the rose garden is just some roses that are totally hidden in high grass and weeds!

I visited this garden while visiting the Azores - well worth visiting for the nice collection of old trees. Not like the gardens in Madeira, but I enjoyed it for 1 hour stroll and some fresh air.

We spent a few hours exploring these beautiful gardens filled with incredibly old trees. The map of the park was well done and we enjoyed the visit.
