The place is just amazing. The view is definetely breathtaking. Most of people choose Miradouro da Vista do Rei, but we decided to admire the view from the abandonned hotel which is nearby. Maybe a bit scary, but worth it!

For a view as the one in the profile picture, go on the rooftop of the abandoned hotel. We were lucky to have a beautiful day in January, went there in the afternoon.

This is certainly one of the highlights of the island. I suggest taking an off road jeep tour around the rim of the caldeira. The view was gorgeous. Plus, we go to walk This is certainly one of the highlights of Sao Miguel. It is a must see of the island. We were torn between taking a jeep tour and... More

I must say that I travell quite a lot in terms for work proposes, but I never expected to find the must beautiful place on "earth" in my own country. If you love nature come to the Islaw of saint Michael's and the Azores

The views of the 2 lagoons is awsome. Some of the trails were closed because of the heavy rains, but some of them are opened and in good conditions. Lovely views, and they were even better when the sun was shining fully ;) The legend of these 2 lagoons (one blue and the other one green) is very beautiful, We... More

We had a rental car and drove the back roads. Gravel and perfecty safe. Incredible views. Incredible steep drops on both sides of the road. Hills quite populated by Holstein cows grazing, They are everywhere! Stop often and take spectacular pictures on the gravel road that circles the rim of the original volcanic crater...

Know the myth behind the lakes, it's sweet. Check out the abandoned hotel and look up its history on-you tube-fascinating. The area is truly gorgeous, and the government provides great picnic spots-bring a picnic and enjoy.

I had a bit higher expectation. The view from the mountains is very nice but when I was on the caldera of Lagoa de Fogo it was even better. At least the camp in the village was free. The water in the lakes was not very nice. For complete imagine I should mention plenty of hortenzia everywhere. It was quite... More
