Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We’ve been on many whale watching trips and we’ve been really pleased about how the entire team has worked hard to provide us the very best experience. Combining their spotter, use of underwater microphone and great eyes enabled us to get close views of sperm whales and dolphins. Highly recommended!

We went snorkeling and whalewatching with Sea colors.
It was a wonderful experience, the guides are very enthusiastic and knowledgeable.
It felt not very commercial, I really could tell how much they cared for the animals and for making it also an enjoyable experience.

It was always small groups, which adds to it being enjoyable.
Definitely would go with them when going to Ponta Del Gada.

Sea Colors has a very good approach to offering whale watching expeditions. Throughout the trip we learned so much interesting facts about the local sea-life and appreciated, that the animals were treated with so much respect.

Our family had a wonderful time on this outing. We saw dolphins and a sperm whale, but even without the sightings, the trip on the boat and the views of the island from sea would have been spectacular. Jasmine and Betty went well out of their way to make our experience special and we really appreciated it. Unlike other companies , they adapt the timing and what exactly we will do, to what we find once out at sea. They will not put you in the water to swim with dolphins at all cost if the animals aren’t displaying curiosity or if mothers with calves are around. Also, being in a small group of 12 really makes a difference. They also offer snorkeling trips, which we unfortunately weren’t able to go to.

Wonderful experience! The crew consists of experienced marine biologists that kept informing us about the animal encounters during the whole trip. We also got a detailed briefing before the expedition about the different kind of cetaceans we meet year round on the island. Thank you to the amazing crew of Sea Colors!

Whale watching was on my “must do” list when we came to Sao Miguel and Sea Colors did not disappoint. We were lucky to have Betty and Maria take our trip out and Betty, in particular is extremely knowledgeable and Maria said she was learning; she was an excellent host.

I love the way they’re also involved with scientific reasearch and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

Wow, what a great team at Sea Colors! Everyone was very friendly, knowledgable, and helpful from the first correspondence booking the tour through the tour itself. First step once you arrive is to get outfitted with waterproof clothes and bags. Then you get a land-based lesson on whales of the area, both residents and passersby.

We went on a cloudy day, so we didn't see any whales. However, we saw a huge pod of common dolphins including newborn calves, twice, plus a loggerhead turtle, and a Portuguese man-o-war that the guides carefully raised into the boat in a bucket for a better view for the guests!

Note that the tour boat is a zodiac where you straddle an inflated seat. On our cloudy day, the sea was rough, as was our ride. We felt very safe, but it's probably not for the seasick or otherwise delicate. Other note is that they only accept cash and asked for a deposit of 1/2 of the total the day before for our group of 6, which actually gave us an opportunity to locate it.

Sea Colors was extremely accommodating to our group and we really appreciated our tour!

There are lots of places offering these tours. This small business and team are friendly, laid back and professional. It was all easy from the moment we arrived, to the briefing and getting on to the rib. We went out and saw the difference being in a small, personal boat made. Our captain was able to spot whales and dolphins with relative ease, and so we saw sperms whales, a calf, Portuguese man of War and lots of dolphins. All clothing is provided. We enjoyed it so much we have booked to go again. Thank you Sea Colors team. Sam

An incredible experience! Great ride on little boat (for 12 people) and the opportunity to get closer to dolphins and whales than other big boats. A well-deserved 10/10!

Great place! As every whale/dolphin company claims but not deliver: these guys really care about the animals. Swimming with dolphin is possible, but only when they see the animals are at ease. Did a great trip on the ocean with them and experienced an unbelievable encounter of 6 spermwhales. Multiple breaches out of the water and up & close meeting the animals, swimming towards us, we got it all. I stuck my camera in the water and got these amazing shots. Oh, I forgot the 100 dolphins playing around our boat..
