Our guide of the island explained the method that is unique to Sao Miguel of how they grow this fruit indoors in greenhouses. Very interesting but I must question how cost effective it is as each plant requires quite a bit of attention. Nice gift...More

This plantation is really close to Ponta Delgada, practically in the neighborhood. We got there by foot (cca 3,5km from center) and went through nice village area with lots of things to see. Plantation itself is for free and you can explore how pineapples/ananases are...More

Yes, the tour of the greenhouses and leaning what is involved in producing this exceptional fruit is interesting, but wait until you taste one. You will never (ever) want any other kind of pineapple.

This was an educational trip for us and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves thanks to our tour guide. It also helped to sample (and buy) the local liqueurs - marvelous.

When you see how much time and effort goes into growing every single pineapple (nearly a year and a half!), you can understand why they’re not cheap. You can get larger pineapples imported from Costa Rica in the stores for a fifth of the price,...More

This place is quite special when it comes to education about how pineapples are made from scratch. We had a wonderful little visit, and got to taste some pineapple liquor and fresh juice. Worth a visit, but won't take longer than 10-20 minutes before it...More
