Monte Brasil is a well preserved park area on the south coast of Terceira, adjacent to Angra do Heroismo. A result of volcanic activity, Monte Brasil offers sweeping views of Angra, the south coast, and the ocean. By foot it is a hike up two distinct hills and will take the better part of a day. Included in the activities... More

You can drive to the top or hike it. Either way, this is a must visit location in Angra. The views are spectacular. Many things to see while you make your way to the very top.

Great exercise. Nice views of city and green mountains with lava stone walls. Interesting history of wars and battles and volcanic remains. Overlooks Angra do Heroismo.

Nice moderate hike to the top where there is a lovely recreation area with children's equipment, old armaments, beautiful view and even a little zoo all free with grilling and picnic areas. (You can drive up too)

We walked along the path on the lower part of Monte Brasil that had great views of the marina and the Cabral islands. The path was easy to walk on and there was a pretty chapel along the path that you could look inside. Nice morning stroll.

We had a beautiful day to spend on the mountain. We followed the markers and the hike was about 7miles and we did the equivalent of about 80 flights of stairs. Completely worth it if you have the time. You can drive up as well.

Stunning hike past the fort and hills. Theres so much scenery to check out and the land features are insane. Good for kids too (we saw some play areas) and there are lots of cats, awesome.

There are tours on the hour of the inside of the castle. There are walks around the ramparts, although I had trouble finding those. Head off to the left up a paved... More
