I was surprised at how extensive this museum was. Though not every exhibit had an English language translation, there was enough in English to make it worth while. I wish we had budgeted more time for the visit.

This is a jewel of a museum. When I entered the church, I heard organ music. It took a while to realize the music was live. The organ was built in 1788 or so and is still being played. If you hear it during your...More

We visited the museum without expactations and were very pleased. There are a lot of rooms and many exhibits to learn about the island and town history. The cherry on the cake was an organ concer by the master.

We were not expecting much as admission was only €2. But the museum has a pretty amazing and varied collection. Most of the exhibit labels are only in Portuguese however so you may want to ask for the audio tour. There was a museum staffer...More

Very interesting museum. We went on a Sunday and it was free which was an added bonus. The exhibit of carriages was particularly interesting.

great museum. We learned all about the history of Angra do Herosimo in a beautiful setting. The architecture is wonderful. If you speak English ask for head sets. Visit the gardens next door!

This is in an old convent and for 2€, 1€ for seniors, it was an interesting museum. The church alone was worth the visit.

I was surprised that a woman essentially accompanied us through the tour, showing us where to go. She would point into a room and then leave us to go through it, picking up with us again when we came back in. She was sweet, so...More
