Just downhill from the University, and part of the campus. Ancient trees and statuary. Peaceful place for a stroll.

This very old historic botanic garden is located on the side of the hill on which the city is arranged. There are huge mature trees, charming terraces and ornamental pools, stone archways and long promenades. Entry is free.

We walked as much of the garden as possible, it has the potential to be world class, unfortunately it seems that funding is limited and so there are many closed pathways and limited maintenance in other areas. We loved many parts of the park but...More

We walked through the garden after touring the university and library and cathedrals. It was nice to get out of the sun.

These gardens are situated on the side of the hill near the old university complex and library. Its a perfect place to relax, not that Coimbra is a demanding town. Some magnificent Australian flora...the Morton Bay fig, eucalyptus and cedar were exceptional specimens from downunder....More

Medium sized botanical garden with good paths and signage. Nice to compare how early some plants are flowering compared to UK. Some areas closed when we visited but they will be open later in the year. Massive mangrove tree. Recommended.

Local vegetables and fruits sold on Saturdays. Small but nice market, and a must visit for everyone who wants to support local organic agriculture.
