cozy outdoor space, specially in hot summer days, nice picturesque garden with a beautiful view to coimbra.
The staff is friendly and makes you feel welcome.
Its a good place to have a drink, while reading a book and enjoy the "artsy" atmosphere.

being a conimbricense but no longer living in coimbra, i continue to visit this space because i spent many hours there, when i lived in this city. always a super welcoming place, I have noticed that it has lost some charm, as the employees force the order (instead of waiting a while), they lack a little empathy and sympathy. and in winter you could place heaters outside to help when it’s colder and there are not enough blankets. the price level is slightly above average.

We like when old clients come back to us feeling grateful for the good moments we provided to them and being kind and positive with us recognizing we are a special place to preserve and cherish.
We don’t understand why you say our prices are “slightly above average”!
We think we also are slightly above average! That’s why you like to come here, isn’t it?
We are grateful for the opportunity to inform about our prices:
1,10€ - coffee
1,50€ – beer (fino)
Gin Gordons – 5,50€
Whisky (new) – 5€
Toast – 2,60€
Glass of milk with coffee – 1,80€
Brunch XL – main dish + drink + coffee + cake – 14€
We agree it's certainly cheaper (but not so much…) to have a coffee over the counter at the train station bar or at a kiosk in a shopping center but it certainly will be slightly different to.
You want us to “place heaters outside when it’s colder and there aren’t enough blankets”.
Yes we provide a lot of blankets for those who want to stay outside even though they have a very comfortable inside, heated by a fire place.
We lost charm because “employees force the order (instead of waiting a while)“ ? !
The main objective of all of us that work here is to provide moments of happiness to our clientes and we value fair opinions.
We are grateful for your sympathy and time spend sending us, and everybody, your opinion, but we really haven’t understood what you have liked after all!

Gostamos muito de receber antigos clientes que se sentem gratos pelos momentos de felicidade que lhes proporcionamos e que, por isso, são correctos e generosos connosco, reconhecendo que somos um sítio especial a preservar e acarinhar.
Não percebemos o que pretende dizer com “que os nossos preços ficam ligeiramente acima da média” !
Nós também estamos ligeiramente acima da média, ou não? Será talvez por isso que gosta de frequentar a Galeria.

Concordamos que será certamente mais barato (não muito) tomar café ao balcão no bar da estação ou num quiosque no centro comercial, mas achamos que não será a mesma coisa.
Pretende que coloquemos aquecedores no exterior para quando as mantas que disponibilizamos não são suficientes ?!
Sim, disponibilizamos mantas para os clientes que preferem ficar no exterior apesar de terem uma casa aquecida e confortável.
"Perdemos encanto porque os empregados apressam o cliente a que faça o pedido" ?!
O principal objectivo de todos quantos trabalhamos aqui é de proporcionar momentos de felicidade aos nossos clientes e valorizamos críticas justas.
Estamos gratos pela sua simpatia e tempo despendido a fazer-nos chegar esta opinião mas ficámos sem perceber afinal o que lhe agradou ?!

Since the beginning of my studies in coimbra I would recomend galeria as the best place to focus and relax. But now they make sure that you spend at least 5€ (orange juice + very poorly served basket of bread) and after 19h they will kick you off the caffe and bring your bill.
I'm sad to see owners of potentially unique places making bad decisions to make their place empty and barely profitable than respecting the clients and having more of them.
It's sad. After today I'll never recomend Galeria and if i can tell peeople to think twice before coming here.

Students are not prohibited, at all.
But students have libraries, study rooms in colleges, in which they, legitimately, can bring, from home, products to snack.
This is just a question of fair trade.
We offer a fantastic room, beautiful, comfortable, heated with wood stove, bright, quiet, next to a terrace with a fantastic view over the city!
Also we offer good products.
All this costs! We think this is quite obvious.
Naturally, we demand a fair price: minimum consummation of 5€ per person (the cost of a pack of cigarettes) for the all afternoon - 13h until 19h - of work in our space.
For some people, it’s something new because were used to stay for free enjoying our house.
We are sorry, but things must be fair for both parts and if someone comes to us, naturally, expects to buy our products or to pay for using our space.
That’s the way firms work and get money to pay salaries and everything else needed to keep the business healthy!
It’s like this everywhere. Only in public spaces you can stay for free because all of us are paying it with our taxes.

We had lunch here. Lots of trendy type locals seem to come here. The view is partly of the town of Coimbra but also of a petrol station on a main road.
You could find yourself seated next to a smoker, which is not nice.
The food was very sparce.
Octopus, squid and parsley cost 4.50 Euros. With another tapas and 2 small bottles of water, the bill came to 14 Euros.
I thought that it was poor value for what we got.
Also included was a miserable waitress.

Been here 3 times, every visit great!
Dog friendly! Cosy! Fabulous hot dark chocolate with homemade whip cream. Tasty toasted sandwiches. Good coffee & teas.

This is in a great position in Santa Clara, with a lovely shaded verandah and a good view of the old city of Coimbra. The menu is limited and there is nothing on offer for a hungry vegan.The kitchen would not accommodate my request to substitute the cheese in a listed sandwich for hummous, which was on the menu as a separate dish. I thought this was very inflexible of them, as the cafe was not very busy. I could, of course, have ordered the sandwich and asked them to hold the cheese, hold the pesto, and to please bring me a bowl of hummous on the side, but by then I had run out of enthusiasm. Also, people are allowed to smoke INSIDE the cafe, which is a serious no-no for a non smoker. As soon as I realised this I headed for the verandah, where people were also smoking but at least it was in the open air. As I said, sadly underwhelmed.

We are sorry you didn’t like our home. We think it was a communication problem. As you refused the English menu, may be the communication became less clear and the young employee that served you didn’t understand your needs perfectly.
Nevertheless, we thank you the opportunity to present our vegetarian and vegan options. This is not an easy issue in Portugal and also we are not a vegetarian or vegan café/bar, still we have some options to offer.
If you are vegan, you can start with olive oil and onion toasts and some olives on a Portuguese spice. Afterwards you can take a vegan option perfectly balanced on protein, vegetables and cereals, asking húmmus served with bread and a typical salad from the south of Portugal of carrots and parsley, or a wonderful salad of tomatoes and onions, prepared with pesto.
For vegetarians, we have a wrap filled with vegetables and cheese; or a delicious and generous salad of chickpeas, tomato and feta cheese served with bread; or tzatziki served with bread; or a wonderful sandwich called “Jazz”, with cheese chévre, tomato, pesto and honey.
Finally you can have all the cafeteria drinks prepared with vegetable drink instead of milk: milkshake, hot chocolate; coffee with “milk”, etc.
About smoking inside… our house has 3 floors.
On the ground floor we have 3 rooms. You were seated on one of them and you choose the only one where smokers are allowed. There’s an informative card there.
The other two floors are also for non-smokers.
Outside, on the terrace, on the open air, smoking is allowed, as every where.
We except you enjoyed Coimbra and hope see you again!

We walked around the monastery and had a great time. We stumbled upon this treasure. We were happy with all of the sitting options.
The menu looked great. We ordered a selection of food including the tomato salad, the octopus and squid dish and the mackerel salad. All were amazing and tasty!
The drinks came quick.
I would definitely come back to this place! It's amazing!!! The staff is very friendly and helpful. We went with her food suggestions!!
Internet works good too.

It's worth going across the river to check out this place. We enjoyed our cocktails and the view from the outside area is lovely, being there at dusk was particularly special.
It was a very chilled out vibe and if you are a freelancer I imagine it is a great place to work, we saw a couple of people on laptops.

Went here last night with a friend, around midnight, and loved it. Nice drinks and snacks, music trendy but not too loud, decor like the living room you'd have if you were an eccentric with good taste. Seriously comfy chairs.
