Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Would recommend to go and see the monument. Spectacular views from there and the sculpture itself is amazing

When preparing for the trip we have identified the Senhora as a must. But when I came on the spot, the statue in the rock left me speech-less. Just simple amazing. Feeling the powers behind the hands which made this statue. On top of this we have arrived just in the time of the sunset. Magnificent colours. Sun and dark, sharp border. Difficult to make a good picture.

As other say, you have limited parking on front of it, and can stop and get a good view of it. For seeing it nearer, you would better do it in the Spring time, as summer time can be too hot to walk, and Winter time you will get exposed to the elements. There is also a fountain on the opposite side of this with very fresh water from the mountains.
Definitively of the spots that it worth stopping.

One of the very scenic sites in Serra da Estrela. The park has a range of dramatic landscapes, from semi-desert rocks to rugged mountains and forests, plus Europe's longest glacial valley.

Beautiful place. We enjoyed a lot our visit and for the children it's unique! The access was good and amenities in place are enough.

It can be quite an experience to get there in a Winter day, but there's easy-enough hiking tracks for the more adventurous traveller and some signage explaining the pre-historic relevance of the vale. More information about the history and legends of the area may help the more fancy traveller to realise its beauty!
Not advised for people with locomotion issues. The sculpture can be seen from a significative distance, though.

Another example of how special is the human-being. Lovely carved rock in a beautiful place of the highest mountains of continental Portugal. Be sure to not leave any garbage, we all love to see a clean beautiful sight.

It is a bas-relief sculpture, carved in a rock, representing Nossa Senhora da Boa Estrela, the protector Saint of the Shepherds.

Very simple but amazingly beautiful cult place. Better than the place itself is the road to get there. Some of the most beautiful sceneries in the Serra da Estrela.

my husband is portuguese from porto and i'm a foreign textile designer , I went to covilha to visit the museum but since the town was small we decided to go to Senhora da Boa Estrela. It was terrible! I dont know if it was because it was winter, but there was not much to see rather than rocks and the landscape was not good. The trip was long and i definitely do not recommend this place, it is not worth it. I would rather recommend visit the city and the museums.
