Not a tourist place for sure

It’s contemporary architecture with the impressive sagging roof (a "sheet of concrete") joins two annexes, and is based on a sheet of paper placed on two bricks.

But the large expanse underneath the roof has fallen in disrepair with youth loitering in it aimlessly. Because of its proximity to the Altice Arena and the Vasco da Gama centre it is visible but not a place to visit specially. If you are in the Parque de Nacoes area, you cannot miss it.

Exhibition pavilion

A building with a strange, unusual architecture. You can't miss it if you walk alongside the Tejo river's bank between the aquarium and Vasco da Gama shopping mall. It wasn't any event there at the moment of my visit so I admired only the outside part. Anyway,it worth a short stop, to take a few photos.

Tutankamon exposition

An interesting exposition about the discovery of Tutankamon tomb. Since everything are replicas it is not a fantastic visit in price/quality.

Externally it looks like a normal pavilion which is however flanked to the south by an original structure made up of two buildings (like porticos) detached and distant but connected at the top by a large roof, thus forming a sort of enormous veranda; it is considered an engineering masterpiece designed by Álvaro Siza, who wanted to represent a sheet of paper placed on two bricks. Naturally the pavilion is only open on the occasion of specific events (when we were, however, it also seemed partially affected by works), but the aforementioned original structure is obviously freely visible. In my opinion, as a layman, the two buildings that support the roof are nothing special, while the gigantic reinforced concrete roof has a certain effect: due to the curvature it assumes in the center and the thinness it has a graceful appearance that it makes it look more like a sheet of cloth, rather than a wall structure. However, you must pay attention, it is not a structure that immediately attracts attention from a distance (like perhaps the Vasco da Gama tower): rather than to an ordinary tourist, it will be interesting above all to an architect or to lovers of original structures.
