You will be forced to forgive the ridiculously priced tiny little mineral water, crappy wine list, overpriced crappy starters, average main course at fine dining prices and friendly but mostly absent service. Your chair will torture you. If you are over 6 foot you will...More

The music by the owners is excellent. Service is attentive. Menu is imaginative. It was a very special night with 3 fado singers, intimate atmosphere, and, unlike most fado clubs, very good food.

We ate here in recently as a suggestion from an aquaitence. Loved the singers and atmosphere, small but quaint. The food was very overpriced, which you can somewhat justify since there is no charge for the performances. However, 3.50 for a small bottle of water...More

We had been looking forward to this experience at what the owners say is the oldest fado and probably most authentic fado in Lisbon. While the fado entertainment is advertised as being free there is a minimum charge of 30 euros per person. While I...More

What a lovely evening. Sitting between a lovely Australian couple and two sweet Dutch ladies, we really enjoyed our last night in Lisbon. The food was excellent and the 5 musicians gave a very professional performance of Fado. The service was also excellent. Quite pricey...More

The reviews on this page are harsh. I have been here twice. I agree that the staff is is tired and not super friendly though the owner was nice to us. Our waitress though was dour and without any personality at all. That was palpable....More

Oh my god. That THIS is what some guidebooks recommend as a place to experience fado is simply CRIMINAL. Only if you have not experienced the warmth and hospitality of other venues, such as A BAIUCA, you might be momentarily taken with a few good...More

This fado bar is highly recommended by all guidebooks. But why...? Sorry to say, it's a rip-off. We went there to enjoy authentic fado. We heard five singers accompanied by two old musicians. It was all right, but the food was a total disaster and...More

Small place, traditional atmosphere, good fado. This is actually the only reason to dine there. Definitely over-priced, the food needs major improvement, wine list is quite poor for Portuguese standards. Does not get any close to meet standards for the name that it represents. Would...More
