I'm a former engineer with a 9 to 5 desk job. After retirement I drove tuk tuks during 5 years and loved every moment of it. Finally I felt the need to go in depth, to share the detail or the hidden gem in a leisurely pace not allowed in the tuk tuk tours, and the upgrade to the walking tours was the obvious choice.

João took us on a local tour in the city center explaining to us the history and fun facts behind a lot monuments sites and buildings in downtown Lisbon. During these 2 hrs, João shared with us his culture, his love for the booke and arts (like opera) as well as his life as a native lisboan and his recommendations for hidden gems. Don’t worry about the language barrier because João will guide you through this trip in both english and french in addition to his native portuguese. This is not your run-of-the-mill “history lesson” tour; it is a dynamic conversation with a true local. In summary, the two hours flew by, and this tour is highly recommended.

Joao is a retired gentleman who obviously has found life and passion in showing visitors his city. We had a very thorough 3 hour tour and have a better sense of Lisbon’s unique neighborhoods and some of the places we will want to spend more time when we are able to return to this stunning city.

Fantastic tour with very knowledgeable, informative, fun Joao (who is fluent in English). Best tour we could have done on our first day in Lisbon! Not only did we see the sights, but Joao also gave us the history, the context, and so many insights (including interpretations of the street art). The tour was very flexible, and Joao accommodated our preferences. Amazing, kind service… he picked us up where we were staying, and dropped us off at a different location. Joao loves Lisbon and made sure we not only saw the sights, but could identify them from a scenic view over the city. Contact Joao - You could not find a better tour guide!

We had a wonderful time with João, we took three tours with him around the old city of Lisbon and Belem. Always very patient and kind, he took us to beautiful places and gave us great recommendations. Highly recommended!

Joao provided a perfect introduction to Lisbon. Amazing tour, encompassing so many interesting highlights of this amazing town. Loved the art work on the buildings and got a good introduction to some portuguese artists.
