Large open market with plenty of food (ham, cheese and pastries) available. The market also has some merchants selling cork and other touristy items.

We went to the square to pick up the bus tour but once we discovered the market we had to come back. At lunch time it was busy and we were lucky to grab a table. There’s a fab selection of meats and cheeses and...More

Located next to Rossio square, this square houses a great little market (don't recall what day) and is the place to go to get a Tuk Tuk to the castle. With so many, makes it a little easier to negotiate a good rate.

There was a market there during our stay. We got some really great local food and it was great to mingle with locals after the ‘wall to wall tourists’ (ourselves included) experience of an open top bus. Great fare and a nice atmosphere.

There’s not much to see at Fig Tree Square (Praça da Figueira). Mostly an open square with a modest sized statue of King John I in the middle and a lot of traffic around it. Not really worth searching out.

I guess the nearest thing to 'street food' that we found in Lisbon. Walking around the stalls there are so many great smells that even though we hadn't planned to we ended up having lunch and a sangria to wash it down with. The pork...More

A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site,
Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply

earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its
name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in
Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the

Sorry I don't have the right answer... but I was there again last week (on a Friday) and it wasn't there! So I believe that it might be seasonal (maybe summer school vacations time only?). Hope somebody knows :)

Yep the metro and rail stations are next to the square. The bus direct from the airport also stops there and is best way to get to downtown Lisbon from the airport.
