Tried to visit in August around 11.00 on a Tuesday morning to find a huge queue - so gave up.... looks like tour buses choose this point to turn around and go back into lisbon.

Belem was stunning and I would allow at least one full day to see it all. Well worth a trip, plenty to see

Take a stroll along the Tagus River to take in the various sights and this is one of the icons of this city. Very impressive and historic, but go early in the day to avoid the crowds and heat. If the lines are too long,...More

Must see When in Belem. Long lines to enter the tower. Free enteries on Sunday canceled a month ago so you have to pay 6 EUR for IT. But worth the ticket

The exterior of the Belem tower looks incredible. We purchased a combined ticket in order to bypass the long line. Unfortunately the wait to go to the very top of the tower and return to the bottom was too long. We did check out the...More

Don't come to Lisbon and not see Belem Tower. It looks exactly like the pictures, beautiful! There's a nice little restaurant just beside it too for a drink/lunch.

Magnificent place just the organisation is not able to cope with so many people. It's absurd to queue 3 hrs to get in and another one to go upstairs. Be veeeerry patient if you want to go there

This is perhaps Lisboa's most famous signature icon. When you see it from your own boat it's magical.

This place is so overrated. For some reason every tourist who ever comes to Lisbon wants to visit the Torre de Belem. So we too fell into the tourist trap and took the tram along the foreshore of the Tagus river to the tower. For...More

Belém is the "capital of the Portuguese Discoveries"
and a photographer's paradise. You can spend an entire
day exploring this neighborhood: monuments (Jerónimos
Monastery, Belém Tower, Monument to the Discoveries),
museums (Coach Museum, Centro Cultural de Belém) and
breathtaking views of the Tagus river will make your
visit worth your time. Belém also offers a variety of
restaurants and cafes, namely the famous - and

We didn't use the Lisbon card but I did see these being used at the monastery so I assume so (we bought a joint ticket for Belem +monastery)

If I'd had it to do over I wouldn't go inside the tower at all. It's not worthwhile. And you're very likely to end up with wet ruined shoes.

We got a multi ticket which covered the monastery, museum and tower for €16. The ticket for monastery & museum was €12 & by going to the museum entrance & paying you can avoid the long queues for the monastery.
