Always a lot of traffic here as several neighborhoods come together as well as the Cais do Sodre train and ferry station. Lots of people dodging cars. You can walk around it to get to where you want to go. Some restaurants nearby.

Square elongated in the north-south direction, it is cut about 1/3 by the wide avenida which takes the name of "24 de Julho" to the west of the square and "Ribeira das Naus" to the east. The smaller part to the north, roughly semi-elliptical in shape, has the pedestrianized central part (and paved with the usual light and dark inlays to form a pleasant geometric pattern) on which the monument to the Duke of Terceira stands. This area of the square, despite the pedestrian space around the statue, is very busy with trams/buses and cars passing on the avenues and streets north of the square. The largest part of the latter (about 2/3) which extends south of the avenue is instead quieter because it is occupied by a garden and closed to the south by the Tagus. On the corner between the square and Avenida 24 de Julho is the art deco building of Cais do Sodré station, but its interesting facade is not immediately visible because there are some large trees in front. Certainly an important hub for city traffic and the transit of people (thanks to the presence of the station itself), it remains in any case not one of the most interesting squares from a tourist point of view.

Not a very attractive square. It has a busy roundabout and the only point of interest is the statue of the Duque da Terceira in its centre and the mosaic tiling around it.

This area as been improved over the last few years and is now a nice spot to people watch. Down from Alto and on route to both the station and market it main feature is the statue.

The Praca Duque de Terceira is a busy roundabout with a statue in Lisbon. The Praça is right in front of the busy train station Cais do Sodre.

The statue to the 1st Duque da Terceira (Duke of Terceira), one of the most significant military leaders of Portuguese Liberal Wars that lasted about 6 years (1828 to 1834), a conflict that pitted two royal brothers, Dom Miguel, the commander of the conservative rebel forces on one side, and Dom Pedro, the Emperor of Brazil and then the liberal King of Portugal, on the other, should be seen in conjunction with a broader tour of the surrounding area, i.e. the entire Praça (square) Duque da Terceira, with its beautiful Portuguese traditional mosaic pavement, "calçada portuguesa", the interesting view, up north, of Rua do Alecrim (the first blue building is LX Boutique Hotel, which was portrayed by José Saramago, the Nobel Prize winner in literature, as Hotel Bragança, in his book The Year of the Death of Ricardo Reis, featuring one of heteronyms of the most important Portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa), along with the fanning roundabout perspective of two surrounding streets, Rua Bernardino Costa on the right, and Rua dos Remolares on the left, then the adjoining square Cais do Sodré, formerly of ill repute, featuring an interesting 1928 Art Deco building, the train station serving the resort city of Cascais, on the right, and, finally, the riverfront of Tagus, with its lounge-chairs-styled benches, a view to the river, its opposite bank and the bridge Ponte 25 de Abril on the right.
To sit down on either the embankment, with your feet hanging freely above the water or stretch leisurely on the public benches featuring separate feet support, could be a great idea of a respite from a busy city life or intense sightseeing activities.

Another open square in Lisbon, which is nice in a city of narrow alleys and slim streets. But it is not all that important or memorable.

The centre of the square has the statute which is about all this square has to offer. The statute is impressive enough but that’s where it starts and ends.

We walk past this place a couple of times to get to and from the train station which isn't overly far away. It has a statue there and is a open space. It isn't far from the water front or the centre. It is a nice place to walk around and look at the architecture of the old buildings.

Praca Duque da Tereira is a small traffic roundabout on Praca Duque da Terceira by the riverfront. The place is surrounded by old buildings and close to Cais do Sodre hub of transportation of the city. Quite a number of attraction spots in the vicinity.
