In our half day of birdwatching we saw quite a few birds that were new to us and we learned about the natural areas in and around Lisbon. What a great way to see a place. Pedro from Birdwatching Lisbon is a great guide.

I'm a little tardy sending this but back in November 2019 my wife and I joined Pedro, a guide from 'Birdwatching Lisbon' for a very reasonably priced half day on the Tagus estuary. Wow, in a couple of hours we were introduced to over 20 new to us bird species. So I imagine spring migration at this area would be an out of this world experience for any avid birder combined with a week if possible in Lisbon itself which to us rates near the top of all the cities in Europe that we have visited. So 'DO IT' !!!

My husband and I booked a tour for 30 December 2019 during our trip to Lisbon. Quite simply, it was one of the highlights of our Lisbon journey and a wonderful way to explore and elarn about the birds of Lisbon. Pedro's knowledge of birds is excellent and he is easy to converse with. He took us to the known spots, we saw many many bird species, including at close range via the scope. We hope to do this at some point in the summer so we can explore the summer species. I would highly recommend this tour. The one thing I would say is do bring your own lunch if possible as it saves time looking for places to eat, specially during the festive season when many restaurants are closed.

My first trip to Lisbon and I wanted to spend some time birding as a change from visiting the shops with my wife and her friends! Spent the day with Pedro from Birdwatching Lisbon at the Tagus Reserve and estuary. An excellent day with regard to both the number and range of birds seen. The day was organised around my requirements and Pedro, with his extensive knowledge of when and where the birds were likely to be seen and his local knowledge, enabled me to see species I had not seen before and in numbers beyond anything seen previously. Highlights of the day had to be the murmurations of Glossy Ibis (numbering in the thousands) and the Greater Flamingoes in the golden glow of the setting sun. We hope to return to Lisbon at some point and I would certainly spend another day with the guides from Birdwatching Lisbon. The knowledge they have of the area and the birds is second to none.

We live in Singapore but have been coming to Lisbon for many years and were never aware of the birdwatching possibility that Portugal offers. We are not avid birdwatchers by any means but my wife, daughter and I decided to take a half day trip with Birdwatching.com after a friend mentioned that flamingoes are sometimes observable on the Tagus river. The 3 of us went last Saturday with Pedro (who is a fantastic guide btw!!-thank you sir!) and all of us had the time of our lives. Limited review space does not permit me to list ALL the species we saw but between the shows put on by the huge flocks of black Ibis' with their synchronised/geometric flight patterns and the sightings of raptors, waders, spoonbills, flamingoes, geese, ducks and myriads of others we had a fantastic time and are DEFINITELY putting this on the list for the next trip. Next time we will bring our serious cameras but even with a simple iPhone we were able to get some wonderful memories. Birdwatching-Pedro provided us with binoculars, guidance and lots of information. A short 30 min drive from Lisbon-well worth it. Next time we will make it a full day! Thank you Birdwatching.com
