As over-65s we got in free (others pay a very modest fee), but were still given a guided tour in English by the very friendly staff. All aspects of the sardine industry were covered, including printing the labels on the tins. The history and demise of the industry in Setubal were described briefly and interestingly. This wonderful and unique museum in Portugal is set in a former Sardine Factory. Setubal once had many of these but they have all closed sown, though there are still one or two chimneys on the horizon.
