A very large beach with great surf, a saltwater sea pool at one end and a fantastic sea food restaurant we dined at which overlooks it all.

Europe's (Portugal's) answer to Bondi Beach.

Great surfing, good restaurants and nice small bar next to beach. There is a sea water pool available too and a cliff top walk to the next beach with interesting flora and dinarsor footprints. Umbrella available too.

This is a great beach for enjoying nature. We stayed close by and visited the beach every day during our stay. The strong point of this beach are the views and enjoying walking alongside the waterline. Just observing the sea is fantastic here. If you like to swim head over to the pool at the hotel and for eating there are several good options.

It's a great place with a long sandy beach , beautiful landscape and clean water.
Free parking and shower all along the beach.
There are some restaurants as well.
We had a good time when the tide was low ,however, be careful when the tide is high : rough waves
Drive carefully: some parts of the road outside Colares are very narrow!

We went to a restaurant there for lunch and whjile at it we took a very nice a long walk on the beach. It was November, so no change of swimming, and the specific day was really windy so there were huge waves but the beach is beautiful! Would like to come back during summer time.

We stopped briefly at the beach which on a sightseeing trip and were impressed by the wide expanse of clean sandy beach. Not overly busy on a warm but blustery Monday.

A beach for everybody. Lots of hard sand for beach games. Big waves for surfing. A very sandy beach. Lots of restaurants along the road which runs parallel to the beach. Several coffee spots along the promenade. At one end of the beach there is a huge sea water swimming pool which belongs to a hotel but it is open, for a fee, for others to use. There are indeed steps up to the cliff top at the opposite end of the beach to the swimming pool. However, these are closed due to a construction problem with the steps. There is another way up to the main road and thus onwards to the coastal path which is by the small roundabout just by the end of the road along the beach. At the opposite end of the beach above the swimming pool there is an easy path to the next beach.

Personally I really like this beach although I acknowledge it has some not so good points.

I like the cliffs, the waves and the sunset. You can go up the stairs in the cliffs and see the dinossaur footstep. From up there you can walk all the way to Cabo da Roca. You also can walk in the other direction to Praia das Maçãs, Azenhas, Magoito, Samarra, all the way to Ericeira.

You also have an amazing swimming pool with 100 meters, perfect to swim.

Good beach to learn to surf and bodyboard. But better for low tide, especially for beginners. Lots of schools to choose.

Lots of good restaurants, Bar do Fundo, Angra, Galé, right on top of the beach.

The not so good points is the weather is quite unstable. You can get really foggy and cold days in the summer. The sea is cold, rough and strong but a lot of fun. With low tide is better.
