On our one-day visit to Sintra, we took in 3 palaces, Pena, Regaleira, and Montserrate. M was by far our fave. The Moorish architecture was delightful, while the extensive grounds were Arcadian loveliness.

This is so incredible. The stucco work and detail in this smallish palace is unbelievable. There is constant restoration and upgrade happening that is refreshing to see. The gardens are impeccably kept and a delight to walk through.

Well-kept gardens and an interesting architectural flight of fancy. The house is empty and currently undergoing some restoration but is still interesting to visit. The audio-visual displays were irritatingly slow and the incarnation of Francis Cook was decidedly creepy.

The setting is peaceful and picturesque. It is very easy to understand why this very rich family, Lord Byron and many others must have enjoyed their summers here. The gardens show significant variety with the rose garden and lawns standing out. The building is outstanding and being carefully renovated. Interesting to see and read English descriptions. Cafe is outstanding and... More

As we were in Sintra for a few days, we decided to walk here. If you have been to Quinta da Regaleira, you follow the road that winds behind it for a few kilometres. It took us about 50 minutes to walk there in the mostly rural setting. There is not a lot of space at the side of the... More

This palace is located around 2km after Seteais Palace. While it's not very large, it has an exotic and unique look from any other palace in this area. The gardens are composed by a variety of flowers and trees.

This old estate is like walking into a lace palace. It's mostly restored and it's breathtaking! White carved walls and ceilings with toughs of gold. Hallways with 6 arches overhead. It has an Indian feel to it. The gardens were also fabulous. We only got a day and 1/2 in Sintra. Not enough!

It's a small palace in a large garden. The palace is decorated with Indian wood work. The rooms are connected by gorgeous hallways. There's a beautiful stairway a da library. You can see the kitchen and the details in it. There's still some restoring work being done, but it's worth visiting!!!
