About
We, the founders and artisans of the family company Lillie Ceramics invite you to visit our all-in-one work studio and shop, where we make ceramics inspired by Madeira Island. Our pottery is in Funchal, the largest city in Madeira, in the historic building of Armazem do Mercado. A few steps behind the well-known Farmer´s Market (Mercado dos Lavradores), our facilities are easily located and well worth a visit while you are strolling through the picturesque narrow streets of Funchal's Old Town (Zona Velha). Lillie Ceramics has the certification seal Product of Madeira since 100 % handmade in Madeira, mainly using the potter´s wheel and painting the island´s well-known scenery. Our production is focused on tableware made from high fired stoneware and all our ceramics can be used in both dish washer and microwave. High quality, timeless ceramics that you will enjoy in your everyday life! A perfect souvenir to bring home, or a gift for someone you care for.

The handmade ceramics here are not to be missed. The 2 proprietors are talented creative friendly ceramic artists that make unique functional ware that reflects the spirit of Madeira.

A delightful little shop run by two lovely Finnish ladies making individual ceramics, paintings and printed aprons etc. They also send abroad. I bought two pretty necklaces but it’s mostly mugs, plates and trinket bowls. Make nice souvenirs, not tacky like most places

Thanks to TA we knew where to find this lovely shop in a side street not far from the market. Had a lovely chat with the Finnish sisters who have made Funchal their home. Sadly limited to one dish when I would have loved to take the set.
The fig theme was stand out for us as we love figs.
Visit with an empty case as we plan to do next year when we hope to do some Xmas shopping in the lovely decorated streets of Funchal.

I bought two ceramic necklaces from here (one photo attached). Unlike anything else I have found! This is a gorgeous tucked away little shop that is an absolute gem for tourists or people looking to get special gifts for friends. I could have spent all day in there. The two sisters who run the business, Loni and Jenny, were hard at work making ceramics when we arrived. They told me that 100% of their products are made by hand on site, which was impressive considering the quality and unique style of products. Great value for money and a nice spot to stop on the way to the market or cable car too.

For a very special event, I ordered a custom platter from Lillie Ceramics. I worked with Lonny and Jenny remotely on the overall idea and left the details to them. The results exceeded my expectations!

They were also kind enough to stage the platter in their shop for when I arrived with my friend, who would be the recipient. They are wonderful sisters to work with!

Wonderful pottery run by two lovely and helpful ladies. Typical madeirean motifs as well as traditional and modern patters make the items unique, refreshing souvenirs brightening up everyday life. If your favourite item isn’t available or if you have a special idea, Jenny and Lonny will produce and even customise it for your and send it by post. We drop in regularly and will do so next time in Madeira.

Found the shop in a guide book. It is located behind the market in Funchal in one of the old traditional side streets. The ceramics, some obviously influenced by the flora of Madeira and nautical tradition, is simply lovely. The ceramics are dishwasher proof which means you won't just look at the plates, etc you buy, but actually use them!!

A fantastic, friendly and interesting place to visit. The owners are really helpful and patient as my wife spent ages to pick what she wanted to take back to the UK!

We found Lillies pottery whilst wandering the streets at the back of the market. A gem of a shop - two lovely lady potters with a wonderful selection of hand made items. True souvenirs of Madeìra. We bought some items to remind us of our visit. Please pay them a visit and you won't be disappointed.
