We wanted to go on up to the Botanic Gardens on a separate cable car but it was out of action. They were happy to take my €30 but not to tell me there was aproblem until we got to the top at Monte

A ride up the cable car is a nice way to see this area of funchal. Their are 2 gardens to walk around but we found no need to pay as walking around the local area was enough ...2way tickets advised but you could walk back. The devastation from last year's fire can be seen from cable cars.

I don't like heights or particularly cablr cars, but decided to give it a go, the price is €10 one way which i feel is good value. There are toilets in the main area where you buy the tickets- very clean-and the staff speak excellent English. The facilities are disabled friendly as access to the ride is up a ramp... More

We decided to go on the cable cars so we could get to the church and tropical gardens towards the top of the mountain and it was fantastic, wonderful views and well worth the money!

We came here for a weekend break and thought we would go on the cable cars and have a go on the wicker baskets on the way down. It was rather expensive to go on the cable cars and the wicker baskets were closed when we got up there 😢. Nice views though. Not much else to do once at... More

The cable car is modern fast and comfortable. The views are spectacular and you climb high and fast! Not too expensive - I think €7.50. A must do in Funchal. Come back down with the toboggan to finish off your tourist day!

A fun experience and definitely a must do when you visit Funchal, albeit for just a few hours, but why are the staff always so surly and downright officious. Such a shame when with a little more effort they could smile and add so much to one's visit (which definitely isn't cheap)

The only way to travel to the fantastic gardens situated overlooking funchai and we were very fortunate to travel on a clear sunny day. Going up there were six of us in the car but coming down very lucky to be on our own so we were able to sit back and take in the fantastic views. It's a must... More

Beautiful day. Lots to see. Well organised and only 15 euro return each. Worth a visit. This island is so amazing. We will be back again as soon as possible. The local community are so friendly and helpful. Avoid the brits trying to get you to buy holidays.

Cable car and an 48 bus will take you up to Monte. Fabulous views. The tropical gardens are so beautiful... .. a day in paradise. The entry feee gives you a complementary Madeiran drink whilst there. Returning to Funchal come part way down by sledge!! A tourist attraction and great fun. Then catch the local bus back to Funchal centre.... More
