A good venue to get familiar with the history of Madeira within 1 hour or so. The exhibits are colorful and interactive - suitable for kids and adults, even for people with short attention span.

Learnt a lot in this well set out museum. It's in an interesting area with other stuff around. If you find history dry, try the nearby "Old City Pub"

Went here and sort of enjoyed it. The exhibition itself was amazing and interesting. The downside was there was poor accessibility and we had to use lifts and there was poor signage for stairs.
